The 3.5-acre off-leash dog park will open in early 2022 and offer several amenities including a ramada, three fenced areas for dogs, drinking fountain for humans and a bowl for dogs, and shaded benches throughout. Artwork will activate the park and enhance the surrounding community. Artwork may consist of one or a series of sculptures that respond to the park and surrounding desert landscape. Artist will work with city staff and project architect to locate an appropriate site(s) for artwork. Project budget is $60,000, all inclusive.

Application Requirements

This commission is open to experienced public artists age 18 and older residing in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah. Artists must be registered on the city's vendor site, which can take up to two days to become effective. Go to: Current Solicitations | Apache Junction, AZ - Official Website (apachejunctionaz.gov). Your vendor number will need to be added to a fillable PDF titled Application Checklist. For assistance contact, Heather Hodgman: hhodgman.apachejunctionaz.gov.

Submittals will include: letter of interest, resume, up to 10 images of past projects, accompanying image description list, and names of three professional references dating back to five years. Applicants also must fill out and upload a PDF titled Application Checklist. It can be found on this application site and also at the webpage: Current Solicitations | Apache Junction, AZ - Official Website (apachejunctionaz.gov. This RFQ will close at 2 pm MST on February 23. Late submittals will not be accepted.

Eligibility Criteria

Professional artists age 18 or older residing in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah are eligible to apply. The ideal candidate will have community interaction experience and the ability to create durable artwork located in a heavily traveled area. Those living outside of these states will be disqualified.
