The Spanish Peaks Arts Council (SPACe) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to the support and enrichment of the arts and art education in the Spanish Peaks region of southern Colorado. SPACe operates its art gallery in La Veta year round with the support of paid staff, volunteers, memberships, donations, and grants. And, we are once again, for the third year, pleased to invite photographers working in all forms of photography to enter this year’s 2022 Photography Show. Awards will be given in two categories: Color and Monochromatic/Black & White. All subjects are eligible.

First prize: $400
Second prize: $250
Third prize: $100

Notifications of accepted works will be sent by June 15. Shipped works must arrive by July 15. Hand delivered works must arrive by July 21.

There will be an opening reception Saturday, July 30, 5 – 7 pm, with awards presented. Winners will be notified by email after the judging. The judge will be announced on the SPACe website: https://spanishpeaksarts.org/.

Application Requirements

Up to 4 images may be submitted for a fee of $20 each. Images must be identified as Color or Monochromatic/Black & White. Ours is a small facility, so submitted pieces should be 30” wide or less, including the frame. Smaller works are encouraged. Average sales of artwork range from less than $100 to about $400. SPACe members may use the coupon (code 22CPN) to get $5 off the entry fee for each image entered. Eligibility Criteria

Photography that has been shown in the SPACe Gallery or Gift Shop, in the last 12 months (except the Members Show), will not be accepted. Photography submitted must be the original concept and creation of the individual answering the call. The photographer must include a description of the methods used to create the works submitted.
