Tubac Center of the Arts presents a juried exhibition of artwork by members of the Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Southern California, Texas, and Utah chapters of the “Surface Design Association.” The exhibition will be juried by Arizona Tucson  artist, Annie Lopez. Work must have been completed within the last 24 months.  Work that has been previously displayed at TCA is not eligible.  All work must be the original creation of the artist.

Tubac Center of the Arts exhibit applications on CaFE™ are limited to the first 149 artist applicants.  The CAFÉ application is invitational and only open to the SDA chapter members as noted above.

Juror: Annie Lopez

Annie Lopez, an active member of the Phoenix, Arizona art scene since 1982, Annie Lopez has consistently created new bodies of narrative work exploring a variety of subjects. Her art reflects her experiences through the use of family photographs, vintage “found” photos, personal letters and short stories. In her work, she presents a dialogue about racism, stereotypes, the local art world, personal relationships and family. She is most known for her use of cyanotype, an archival photographic printing process. The images she uses and statements she makes through her art continue to evolve. Lopez engages the viewer with photographs, prints, storytelling and dresses made of paper which often make poignant statements with a sense of humor. Her work has been covered by Forbes Magazine and The New York Times. Annie has exhibited her work in numerous venues across the nation, including the Smithsonian Institution, the National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago, the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe, Shelburne Museum in Vermont, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C.
