Mixed Media
Online Exhibition April 22, 2022 – May 22, 2022
From Duchamp’s “readymades” to the Cubist’s use of collage, modern art was often typified by combining a range of unexplored techniques, unfolding through the intersections of various media. Mixed media, though shocking and unexpected at first, meant that the old divisions of art could never reassume their unquestioned dominance. From the 20th to 21st centuries, the world has become evermore mediated by spectacular accumulations of images. Site:Brooklyn is looking for artists whose work explores the rich and still unmapped convergence between the proliferation of media and artistic practice.
About the Juror:
Anastacia Bloch manages collections and operations for the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, an unique organization – founded by Jasper Johns and John Cage and now funded by a number of artists – aimed at helping contemporary artists through grant-making and institutional support. Currently, she stewards their collection of donated artwork by facilitating artwork sales to fund the Foundation’s grant-making and daily operations.
About the Gallery:
Site:Brooklyn Gallery is dedicated to exhibiting the current practice of contemporary artists. We are taking Site:Brooklyn online with a new series of interactive exhibitions. Our goal remains the same, to connect artists with an expert and diverse set of jurors through the open call format. Our new program focuses on online open call exhibitions, selected by a cast of new jurors, solo artist features, and spotlights.
