Angad Arts Hotel (AAH) is excited to invite submissions for artwork from the Greater Saint Louis region for display in 2022. The artwork selected will be prominently showcased in the public areas of Angad Arts Hotel, the first hotel in the world where one can book their room by the color of emotion. Our rooms are Empowerment Red, Rejuvenation Green, Freedom Blue and Curiosity Yellow. To be located in the first arts hotel in Saint Louis, the artwork will be part of the burgeoning art scene of the Grand Center Arts District with high visibility to the public and opportunity for sale.

 

We pride ourselves on only featuring artists within 200 miles of the hotel. Each biannual exhibition portrays the breadth of the talent in this region.

 

NO ENTRY FEE IN FEBRUARY. March entries will be $35 per artist (not per artwork).

Submissions may include but are not limited to drawing, painting, graphic design, photography, printmaking, glass, assemblage, collage, written word, fiber* or sculpture**. Final pieces must be professionally framed and/or ready for display.

TEXTILES

*Special opportunity for textile artists! A unique installation opportunity is available for a large textile piece. The height is a fixed at 110 inches. The width dimension can vary from 60 inches wide to a max 300 inches wide. This piece would be a focal point of the reception desk of the hotel. Can’t swing it this time? Don’t worry, this opportunity is available for every biannual call.

SCULPTURE

**Sculpture limitations. Works may fit one of three options:

1. To be viewed on a wall protruding no more than six inches, professional hanging hardware must be included for weight bearing drywall installation.

2. To be viewed on a pedestal. Must be no more than 2 ft tall with a max diameter of 1 ft.

3. To be hung from the ceiling. Must be no more than 50 lbs and limited to the dimensions of 5ft by 5ft and reach no more than 8ft from the ceiling including the suspensions.

FRAMING

Final pieces must be professionally framed and/or ready for display. Submissions MUST INCLUDE final dimensions with framing. Pictures with framing of final works are preferred for submissions.

 

Eligibility

Open to individuals living in the St. Louis, Missouri region and surrounding 200-mile radius. (Chicago, IL and Kansas City, MO are not eligible.)

Requirements

Completed proposals must include each of the following components:

∙ Full name and full contact information

∙ Social media handles/addresses

∙ Artist Statement

∙ Purchase valuation (including 33% commission)

∙ High resolution Jpeg of artwork (with framing preferred).

∙ Artwork title, size, weight and media description (MUST INCLUDE dimensions with frame. If work is not yet framed, a description and specific measurement must be included.)

Proposals missing any of the required elements will not be considered.

∙ Curriculum vitae or resume

∙ Written summary of relevant experience, including previously completed projects, 500 maximum word count

 

Proposals will be reviewed and evaluated by the Angad Arts Hotel Art Committee. Receipt of proposal will be acknowledged via reply email, and all entrants will receive notification of the status of their proposal by the notification deadline as noted under “TIMELINE” below. Selected artists will be presented with a contract outlining the terms of agreement between Angad Arts Hotel and artist.

 

Deadline for Submission

The deadline to submit proposals for this project is Sunday, March 20th 2022 (10:59 p.m. CST. Entries submitted after 10:59 p.m. CST on March 20th 2022 will not be considered.

Timeline

∙ Submission Deadline: Sunday, March 20th 2022

∙ Notification to All Entrants: Friday, March 25th 2022

∙ Artwork to be delivered no later than: Tuesday, April 12th 2022.

            ∙ Delivery available Thursday, April 14th, Friday April 15th or Saturday, April 16th

∙ Opening Reception: Tuesday, May 10th 2022

∙ Exhibition will remain on display until late October 2022.

 

*Artist is responsible for delivery to and from Angad Arts Hotel 3550 Samuel Shepard Dr Saint Louis, MO 63103 (with the exception of artwork purchased by the public.)

**Artwork must be delivered NO LATER than Saturday, April 16th 2022 Please contact Vanessa for coordinating delivery outside of April 14th-16th. vanessa.rudloff@angadartshotel.com.

*Angad Art Hotel reserves the right to make a final review of the artwork in person when it is delivered. Any artwork that is not professionally framed, not ready for installation and/or otherwise unfit to install will be rejected upon delivery.

                             

Benefits

● Artwork selected for exhibition will be located in one of several prominent public spaces throughout Angad Arts Hotel of the Grand Center Arts District.

● Daily foot traffic will include national and international guests in for cultural events, business, leisure, festivals, dining and shopping.

● Artwork will have name cards with brief descriptions of the artwork, artist, value, social media handles and/or website and QR code directing patrons to purchase at www.shop.angadartshotel.com.

● AAH utilizes top quality documentation of the artwork on display with professional photography of the work.

● Promotion/sale through AAH’s website, social media accounts and online shop. Artworks are listed at www.shop.angadartshotel.com for purchase.

● Artwork will be added to AAH’s digital archive for future highlights.

● Artwork will be included in the Grand Center Art District’s First Friday artwalks and will be part of curator tours given weekly.

Opportunity for sale of work

●        All artwork on display is available for purchase at www.shop.angadartshotel.com

●        AAH requires 33% commission of sale. Artist receives 67% of sale.

●        Any artwork sold must remain on display for the duration of the exhibition and will not be removed early. Shipping will be handled by the hotel at buyers expense.

Publicity

Angad Arts Hotel reserves the right to photograph all final artwork delivered by the selected artists for this project, to be included in print and digital publications produced for publicity purposes and artist will be credited.
