Art League of Hilton Head invites you to enter CraftHiltonHead2022. Over $3000 in cash prizes will be awarded. All works of art selected by the three jurors will be on display at Art League Gallery in the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. This state-of-the-art gallery provides the finest exhibit space in the area with high tourist and community visibility.

The judge will be Joanna Angell. Joanna is a fourth-generation artist working in ceramics, printmaking, drawing and painting.

Joanna holds a BA in English from Drew University and an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Georgia where she studied lithography with Tamarind printmaker Charles Morgan and ceramics with Ron Meyers. She continues to study in various workshops at the Penland School of Crafts. Her ceramics, prints and paintings are in numerous private and corporate collections including the President’s collection at the University of Georgia. She has participated in a number of juried exhibitions, winning merit and purchase awards for her work, and was three times included in the traveling exhibit Palmetto Hands. She has received several scholarships to the Penland School of Crafts, and continues to serve as a crew chief for Penland’s Annual Benefit Auction.

Joanna’s ceramic work is represented in the Telfair Museums’ Jepson Center Store and Kobo Gallery in Savannah, Georgia.

Application Requirements

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

All entries are juried from a digital image. Each artist may enter up to three pieces of original artwork created within the last three years and never accepted into an Art League of Hilton Head juried show before. Only one piece of art per artist may be accepted into the show.

This exhibition is open to US Southeast (Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Virginia) artists, 18 years or older, submitting entries of 2D and 3D fine art crafts in sculpture, basketry, glass, fiber sculpture and wall hangings including paper, metal works, works in clay, handmade artist books, jewelry, weaving, wood, and assemblage.

All information provided on the original entry as to title, size, and price are final. No changes may be made once accepted into the show.

All exhibited work must be for sale and priced with the intent to sell. A 40% commission to Art League of Hilton Head Island, Inc. will be kept on all sales that occur during the show, or because of the show.

Entries must be original in concept, composition, and execution. Artwork created under the supervision of an instructor is not eligible. Artwork must not be copied in part or wholly from any published or copyrighted work. Giclées are not acceptable.

Any entry considered offensive or not meeting exhibition criteria may be rejected by the Exhibition Committee at its sole discretion.

PREPARATION FOR EXHIBITION

Sculptures and other three-dimensional art must not exceed 60” x 60” x 60” or weigh more than 50 pounds. NO EXCEPTIONS. Free-standing sculptures should not need special mounting. Small works may be enclosed in a transparent plastic case. Bas-reliefs must have a hanging wire.

All 2D works must be quality framed and protected by Plexiglas where appropriate. Each piece must have a secure wire ready for hanging. Pieces may not exceed ”60 x60” including the frame or weigh more than 30 pounds. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Please note shipping pieces over 130” in overall dimension may be very costly. Check with your local shipping agent for charges and details.

If your entry is accepted, you will receive further instructions via callforentry.org about shipment or hand-delivery of your work with your notification.
