"EVERYTHING BLUE' EXHIBIT AT MVA GALLERY -- MODERN VISUAL ARTS
THEMES AND TECHNIQUES
The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists and photographers of all levels (emerging to established) to submit original 2D artwork to this exhibition.
National Call For Entries:
Blue -- a color that has been regarded with reverence since ancient times. Blue can be interpreted as powerful or subtle, boisterous or calm, elegant or ordinary, charismatic or shy.
A multitude of unique shades of Blue exist including cyan, navy, aqua, azure, cobalt and indigo. Like many colors, the human response to Blue is complex and contradictory.
For centuries, the color Blue has been recognized for both positive and negative symbolic and psychological values. Blue, which conjures images of the sky and the sea, represents freedom, intuition and imagination. Blue also reveals meanings of trust, admiration, loyalty and faith. On the other hand, Blue is often associated with coldness, loneliness and sadness, probing the depths of the psyche.
As an artist and photographer, how do you utilize Blue? Does Blue permeate your entire image as seen in the "Blue Period" paintings of Picasso or in the monochrome art of Yves Klein? Or is Blue used in small sections of representational artwork -- in clothing, decor or other objects? Or in elements of Nature? Or as purely decorative? Or as a structural design for abstract and surreal imagery? How does color reveal your technical skill and emotional impact?
No restrictions on subject matter or style exist for this exhibition. All approaches -- traditional or non-traditional -- are acceptable. Let's see your finest interpretations and special visions. We enthusiastically welcome Everything Blue!
Mediums: The MVA Gallery accepts painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, encaustic, fiber, drawing, and photography.
