About the Exhibition

“The 2022 Extreme Pressure Biennial of American Prints,” is the inaugural competitive national exhibition organized by the Webber Gallery of the College of Central Florida. Open to all forms of traditional printmaking, the exhibition will present a celebration and examination of contemporary printmaking by artists throughout the United States. The, “Extreme Pressure Biennial,” will be on view from Aug. 8 to Sept. 22, 2022. Purchase awards totaling a minimum of $2,500 will be made through local organizations with some works entering the permanent collections of the College of Central Florida and possibly the Appleton Museum of Art. The minimal entrance fee covers the online submission process. CAMPUS USA is a proud partner of the College of Central Florida and has generously funded the awards for this exhibition. The juror will be Janet Ballweg, and five cash prizes will be awarded based on her selections.

First Prize: $500 

Second Prize: $300 

Third Prize: $100 

Honorable Mention (2): $50 

 

About the Juror

Janet Ballweg is Professor of Art and Head of Printmaking at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Her work addresses expectations and psychological tensions that exist within human relationships through narratives inhabited by inanimate objects. Examples of her work can be seen at janetballweg.com. Ballweg is active in several national print alliances and councils, and her work has been exhibited in over 500 shows and won dozens of awards.

Eligibility

North American artists residing in the United States 18 years and older are eligible to enter. Work must have been completed within the last four years. Original works in all printmaking media are eligible. Photographs, offset reproductions, or reproductions of artwork originally produced in another medium will not be considered. Submissions must utilize a form of traditional hand-printed media as their primary technique but may include digital output elements within the greater work. Artwork submissions may include but are not limited to: monoprint, monotype, screen print, etching, engraving, drypoint, photopolymer, photogravure, collagraph, lithography, woodcut or linocut.

 

 

Agreement

Filing of the entry form constitutes an agreement on the part of the entrant to all conditions set forth in the prospectus, including permission to use images of the exhibited work in print or on-line media for promotional, educational or archival purposes, and for the creation of a catalogue of the exhibit.

• Accepted artwork may ultimately be refused at the Webber Gallery’s discretion if unable to install or hang properly, or if art varies greatly from the submission image. 

 

Sales

A 10% commission will be charged on all sales. While all sizes of framed prints are welcome, those priced in the $300-$700 range will be more likely to be granted purchase awards. Artists must assume the expense and responsibility of supplying to purchasers any additional prints in the edition that may be sold. Artists will be mailed a check for sold work following the close of the exhibition.

 

Prizes

Over $3,000 is available in juror-designated award and other purchase prizes.

 

Shipping and Display

Artwork that is shipped must be sent through UPS or FedEx and must include a return shipping label. Artwork must arrive at the Webber Gallery by July 28, 2022. Shipped work must be framed with plexiglass - no glass permitted - and must be securely wired across or have D-rings. The Webber Gallery is not responsible for any artwork damaged in transit to and from the exhibition. Any damages that occur during shipping must be covered by the artist.
