“Blurring the Lines: Exploring the Frontiers of Photography and Printmaking”

Remarque/New Grounds Print Workshop & Gallery invites printmakers and photographers from around the world to submit work for our exhibition, “Blurring the Lines: Exploring the Frontiers of Photography and Printmaking” to be held at Remarque Print Workshop and Gallery in Albuquerque, NM from July 8th – August 28th, 2022

The call:
Blurring the Lines” is a call for hand-printed photographic imagery using “alternative processes”, such as: photogravure, photopolymer intaglio, cyanotype, gum bichromate, carbon, salt, lumen, anthotype, gumoil, etc; basically, any alternative to straight digital printing. We are looking for images that explore the boundaries between photography and printmaking and that involve some form of hand-work. The purpose of the show is to present works that incorporate elements of printmaking and of photography and that seek to create a synergy between the two. We hope to showcase the emerging print world that increasingly discards concern for categorical process but makes free use of techniques from all forms of print and image-making. If you have any questions about the suitability of your process, please do not hesitate to contact us at director@remarqueprintshop.com.

The gallery
Remarque/New Grounds Print Workshop, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is one of the first completely non-toxic printmaking facilities in the country. Our award-winning studio offers access to printmaking equipment and year-round classes in a great range of techniques.

Our 3000 + square foot facility is comprised of two workshop spaces with 6 Takach presses, a classroom, and two gallery spaces in which we feature work by artists from our workshop as well as selected artists from Mexico, Japan, Europe, New Zealand and other parts of the United States.

Covid-19 Contingency

Remarque Print Workshop will make every effort to present this show as a traditional exhibition (opening reception, gallery open to the public for regular hours etc.). Given the current state of Covid infections in New Mexico, we have high confidence that this will be possible. If the local requirements for social distancing prevent us from holding an opening reception, we will still hang the show and open the gallery to the extent possible. If necessary we will show the work on an appointment basis. We appreciate your flexibility with all this.
