ELIGIBILITY
Any artist residing in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio, or Tennessee may enter. All work must be original, completed within the last three years, and not previously exhibited in the Mid-States Art Exhibition or at the Evansville Museum.
MEDIA AND LIMITATIONS
The competition is open for the following categories: Painting, Drawing, Graphic Arts, Collage, Sculpture and Mixed Media. No photography is accepted. Entries must not exceed 108 inches in any direction and/or 150 pounds. No entry that requires the artist to be present for moving or assembly will be accepted.
ENTRY FEE
$40.00 fee entitles entrant to submit up to TWO entries. Make checks payable to the Evansville Museum of Arts, History & Science. Payment may be made by check, money order or credit card, please do not send cash.
You may select the option to pay by check through CaFE, simply fill out your entry online and choose the pay by check option. Your check will need to be received at the museum no later than September 25th to be eligible for the jurying process. Any checks received after September 25th will be returned and your entry will be removed.

ENTRIES SUBMITTED VIA CaFE
CaFE is a free service to artists, they allow you to make a user profile for free and then submit to calls for entry via their secure website. The only payments you will make are for the entry fee.
Entries must be made via CaFe. Entries by mail will not be accepted.
INSURANCE
All works accepted for exhibition will be insured, while on the premises, at a value agreeable to the artist and the Museum. Maximum insurance by the Museum for any entry will be $5,000.00. The Museum will not be responsible for insuring work in transit or works unclaimed after March 31, 2023.
RECEIVING
Works selected for exhibition will be received hand delivered or shipped PREPAID from September 30 – October 11, 2022. Arrangement for weekday and weekend in-person delivery must be pre-arranged with staff. If shipping, please make certain that shipper is aware that the Museum can only accept delivery during Museum opening hours (Friday and Saturday 11am-5pm, Sunday 12pm-5pm).
The Museum reserves the right for the Juror to reject, upon review, work with unacceptable artsmanship and/or quality not discernible in the digital images.
RETURN OF ARTWORK
Exhibited work may be claimed from March 23 – March 31 2023, during the previously stated Museum hours. The Museum will not be responsible for work not claimed by March 31, 2023.
Shipped work will be returned in the method it was received, unless specified otherwise by the artist. All shipping costs and liability for damage are the responsibility of the artist. Return Shipping label must be included in packaging material. Artist should put their address as both the sender and the adressee.
SALES
The Museum takes a 20% commission for the sale of works from this exhibition. Please keep this in mind when setting your sale price. In the event of a sale, a check for the purchase price minus 20% will be sent to the artist no later than 30 days after the close of the exhibition.
AGREEMENT
Submission for a work of art to this exhibition shall be understood to indicate an agreement on the part of the entrant, with all conditions set forth, including permission for reproduction in general publication, newspapers, and social media. All purchase award winners will be asked to sign a statement granting the Evansville Museum a non-exclusive, royalty-free, and unrestricted license. By entering the show you are agreeing to the statements set forth in the prospectus.
EXHIBITION
The Mid-States Art Exhibition will be open to the public from December 11, 2022 – March 19, 2023. You are cordially invited to attend the Awards Reception- Saturday, December 10, from 6:00 - 8:00 CST. Awards will be presented at this time. Award winners, or their representatives, are requested to be present for the awards presentation.

PURCHASE and MERIT AWARDS
Purchase and merit awards, underwritten by individuals, corporations, foundations and philanthropic organizations, will be presented at the opening reception. Purchase award-winning works will become part of the permanent collection of the Evansville Museum.
Please note: Juror will select awards on October 17th after reviewing entries. All awards will be given at the discretion of the juror. Entries receiving purchase awards will become part of the Museum’s permanent collection. If the sale price stated is in excess of the assigned purchase award, the artist will be contacted immediately after the jurying and given the opportunity to accept or reject. NFS entries may be eligible for purchase awards. All entries are eligible for merit awards.
ABOUT THE JUROR
Professor of Art History and Chair of the Department of Art History at the University of North Texas in Denton, Heidi Strobel holds a Ph.D. (2000) and M.A. in art history from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She is a specialist in 18th-century gender and material culture and co-editor of Materializing Gender in 18th century Europe (2016, with Jennifer Germann) and the author of The Artistic Matronage of Queen Charlotte (1744-1818): How a Queen Promoted Both Art and Female Artists in English Society (2011).
Dr. Strobel taught art history at the University of Evansville, IN for 17 years and served as Associate Dean of the William L. Ridgway College of Arts and Sciences. She was the curator of the Peters-Magedant House, a Usonian home built by Indiana native William Wesley Peters, chief engineer and apprentice to Frank Lloyd Wright.
