Drawing In All Mediums
Online Exhibition July 27, 2022 – August 26, 2022
Drawing is often thought to be something of a modest or even preparatory art-form. With drawing's rich history, from its relationship, through calligraphy, with writing, to its gestural and abstract potentials, place it at the center of art history. While drawing’s relationship with painting is well known, its relationship with other mediums is less explored. This exhibition aims to have artists reconceptualize the seemingly solid divisions between the materials and mediums of drawing, to think about drawing both in a traditional sense, but also in novel and unexpected ways.
About the Juror: Ashton Cooper is a writer, curator, and Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Art History at the University of Southern California. She has organized exhibitions at the Leslie-Lohman Museum Project Space, Maccarone, Jack Hanley Gallery, Nicelle Beauchene Gallery, Larrie, and the Knockdown Center, all in New York, and Cooper Cole in Toronto. Her writing has appeared in Artforum, ArtReview, Mousse, Contemporary Art Review LA, and others.
About the Gallery: Site:Brooklyn Gallery is dedicated to exhibiting the current practice of contemporary artists. We are taking Site:Brooklyn online with a new series of interactive exhibitions. Our goal remains the same, to connect artists with an expert and diverse set of jurors through the open call format. Our new program focuses on online open call exhibitions, selected by a cast of new jurors, solo artist features, and spotlights.
