Each year, View holds the "Quilts Unlimited" exhibition — which is open to all artists working in the fiber based quilting medium. View is a dynamic Center for Arts and Culture based in the Adirondack Region of New York State. www.viewarts.org

Juror of Selection: Mary Walter
Mary Walter is known for her original quilting style, often incorporating a mix of traditional, ethnic, and contemporary quilting techniques into her quilts. Mary is also a freelance curator presenting exhibits for a variety of cultural organizations nationwide. She is a member of the NACQJ, the National Association of Certified Quilt Judges, since 2000. You may also find Mary teaching in her studio or on zoom, exhibiting, lecturing, judging, designing patterns and fabric, and quilting, quilting, quilting.
Juror of Awards: Pat Harrison
Pat Harrison is a Certified Judge and Webmaster of the National Association of Certified Quilt Judges. She teaches, lectures, and judges nationally in addition to being a pattern designer and award-winning long-arm quilter. A retired school librarian and teacher, she has won numerous awards for her quilts at major shows. Pat lives in rural Exeter, Rhode Island with her retired mechanical engineer husband.
Awards
Through the generous donations of our supporters, View is able to offer over $2,500 in cash prizes.
Eligibility
• The exhibition is open to all quilters working in Art, Bed or Wall quilts.
• Bed & Wall Quilts require stitching to go through all three layers of a quilt. Art Quilts require stitching to go through two or three layers of a quilt.
• Kit quilts and hand tied quilts are not eligible.
• All entries need attribution given to pattern designer if applicable and personal execution created within the past 4 years.
• Artwork previously shown at View is not eligible.
Category Definitions
• Bed Quilt: Design to be used as a bed quilt, measuring at least 61”x61.”
• Wall Quilt: Smaller than a bed quilt and designed to be hung on the wall, measuring 60”x60” or less.
• Art Quilt: Original design, reflecting innovative construction and design techniques, theme subject matter and/or materials. Quilt materials and techniques must be primarily fabric.
Entry Process
• A non-refundable entry fee of $25/$15 for View Members includes the submission of one work. Each artist may submit a total of five works at a cost of an additional $10 per image. Payment should be made during the submission process. Payment and submissions must be made through CaFÉ (callforentry.org).
• For assistance with your submission contact CaFÉ (cafe@westaf.org or 303-629-1166, visit https://www.callforentry.org/artist-help-cafe/) or contact View (Visual Arts exhibitions@viewarts.org or 315-369-6411 x206). Appointment can be made for assistance with your submissions if needed.
• Although each quilter can submit five entries for judging, the selection process will only allow up to two entries in the show per quilter.
Terms of Entry
• All work must be priced or valued for insurance purposes.
• View retains a 35% commission on all entries sold.
• Works will be insured by View for the duration of the exhibition.
• Work must remain on display for the duration of the exhibition.
• By submitting to the exhibition you agree to all terms.
Legal
• View reserves the right to utilize all images submitted to the exhibition in promotion of the exhibition and for the general promotion of View.
• View may rescind the right of hanging any work.
Selected Works
• Selection notification will be sent by August 29, 2022.
• Selected work must be received at View no later than September 23, 2022.
• View will retain a 35% commission on all works sold.
• Selected artwork must be suitably prepared for exhibition and must include the following:
- A 4” sleeve sewn on the upper back of the quilt. Please leave a 1” space between the side edge of the sleeve and the outer edge of the quilt. Please do not bring the sleeve edge to meet the quilt edge.
- A cloth label with quilter’s name and quilt title sewn to the back lower left hand corner of the quilt for identification purposes. (You will receive a number for judging and this number should be put on muslin and cover your name and title)
• All shipping is at the expense of the artist. There will be a $10 handling fee for each package shipped to View.
