Legal RULES OF PARTICIPATION 

1. ELIGIBILITY

All work submitted must be for sale. Each piece of art entered must be the same one as the accepted art in the jury process. Work must be original and must not have been displayed in a previous Ashton Gallery @ Art on 30th exhibition. Sculpture and 3-dimensional work welcomed. Must fit on a 18” x 18” pedestal. Copies, kits and reproductions are not eligible. 

2. RESTRICTIONS

NO REPRODUCTION PRINTS. NO INSTALLATION PIECES. (an Installation Piece is any wall hanging piece that cannot be hung on standard means.) NO PIECE TO EXCEED 72" ON ANY SIDE. NO SCREWS, MOLLY BOLTS, LAG BOLTS, or OTHER ANCHORS will be allowed. NO THREE DIMENSIONAL PIECES will be ATTACHED to floor or SUSPENDED from ceiling. Pieces must be appropriate for general audiences. NO LARGER THAN 72" & NO SMALLER THAN 10".

4. ACCEPTANCE

At the conclusion of the juried process, artists will be sent an acceptance email. It will contain an entry identification number assigned to each piece and detailed instructions for delivery and pick-up of artwork. If accepted, artist will pay all shipping costs. If you choose not to ship your entry, a digital gallery will be playing during the art opening. Digital entries will be included in the catalog for the show. 

5. ENTRY FEE, IMAGES & BIOGRAPHY

Entry fee is $35.00, nonrefundable, covering the first entry. Add $5.00 for each additional entry up to a total of 6 entered pieces. This competition is open to all artists, all media (except as noted above). We request that each accepted artist provide a brief biography (170 words or less); highlighting your career or past achievements, information regarding your process as an artist if appropriate, a simple artist statement, or anything you would like the viewer to know. Upload only one image per entry. 

6. SIZE CONSTRAINTS & FRAMING REQUIREMENTS 

All wall hanging art must be properly hooked and wired, ready to hang (no saw tooth or “clipped in” hangers). Two D-rings are required. Pieces do not need to be framed but the sides need to be finished. No piece exceeding 72" on any side will be accepted. All sculptures and other 3-dimensional work must be properly mounted, ready for display. Any artwork over 70 lbs. will be rejected. All 3-D artwork must fit on an 18" x 18" pedestal. Minimum size: 10" and Maximum size: 72". 

7. SALE OF ARTWORK 

All exhibited art is for sale and all sales of artwork will be handled through Ashton Gallery @ Art on 30th. The price you assign to your artwork in the online entry process is the price we will use. We will not accept price changes once your piece has been accepted. Ashton Gallery @ Art on 30th will retain a 50% commission on all sales resulting from the exhibition and all artwork will hang until the end of the show. Sales will be paid to the artist within three weeks of the close of the exhibition. 

8. RECEPTION 

A Reception to honor participating artists is held Saturday, October 29th, 2022  from 4pm-8pm at Ashton Gallery @ Art on 30th. Best in Show, First Place, Juror's Choice, and Honorable Mentions will be announced. 

9.ENTRIES 

All entries will be juried by JPGs. Upload only one image per entry. If artwork is accepted the artist will be notified by e-mail September 24th, 2022. If no e-mail is received, this juror did not select your piece. During final jurying, any artwork found to contain unacceptable material or not be identical to the JPG submitted, will not be judged for awards or exhibited, and will be returned to the artist. Accepted art must be appropriate for general public venues. No substitutions will be allowed. 

10. SHIPPING & DELIVERY OF ACCEPTED ARTWORK 

The Gallery shall exercise all reasonable efforts for the safekeeping of artworks while they are in its custody. However, entering artwork into the show at Ashton Gallery @ Art on 30th is at the risk of the individual artist. Each artist would be wise to weigh the potential risks involved in entering artwork into a show. 

Shipped artwork must be postmarked no later than October 6th, 2022 and should be shipped with a prepaid FedEx or prepaid UPS return shipping label addressed to the artist. Please ship all artwork to:

Artwork must be shipped in strong, reusable cartons or crates with NO free-floating styrofoam popcorn packing. Ashton Gallery is NOT responsible for damage caused in transit. Each artist is responsible for shipping and arranging prepaid shipping labels with either UPS or FedEX. It is mandatory to include prepaid shipping labels with your artwork or you work will not be exhibited. 

Hand delivered artwork will be accepted from September 26th, 2022 through October 14th, 2022 during regular business hours (Mon-Sat from 11am-4pm). Address for drop off is: 4434 30th Street, San Diego, CA 92116. All artwork must be labeled with title, artist’s name, media, dimensions, and price on the back (or bottom of sculptures). 

11. RETURN OF WORK

Shipped artwork will be returned by Ashton Gallery @ Art on 30th to the artist following the closing date of the exhibition in accordance with prepaid labels. All hand delivered artwork can be picked up starting November 28th during business hours. NO EARLY PICKUPS please. All artwork must be picked up by Friday, December 16th, 2022. A $10 storage fee will be assessed after that date. Unsold work will be returned with your prepaid shipping label. If shipping label is not prepaid, work will be returned COD. Shipping for returned work will begin December 12th, 2022.

12. PERMISSIONS

Your entry gives Ashton Gallery @ Art on 30th permission to use images of your artwork for promotional, educational or historical purposes.
