The 2022, “Best of the Season,” exhibition is an annual exhibition organized by the Webber Gallery of the College of Central Florida and sponsored by the Visual Artists’ Society (VAS). While submissions were previously only open to members of the VAS, this year the show will also be open to artists local to Marion, Citrus or Levy County who wish to submit artwork. Non-VAS members will pay an entry fee of $25 per submission for the 2022, “Best of the Season,” exhibition. VAS members will be provided with a discount code exempting them from this admission fee. For an additional $15 with a $25 submission fee, nonmembers can sign up to become a VAS member with the College of Central Florida. As a VAS member, artists will have a free submission of up to two works to each of the VAS’s two juried shows a year (Best of the Season, as well as a show only open to VAS members: Summer Spotlight). VAS members also have access to educational and professional development tools, such as workshops, lectures and critiques, as well as the Webber Gallery reading room full of art books and resources. Any artists who would like more information about becoming a member of the VAS can contact Vandy Shake at 352-854-2322 Ext. 1552, or email shakej@cf.edu. Submissions must come from either artists that hold a current VAS membership, or artists who are nonmembers residing in Marion, Citrus or Levy county. Any accepted works must be brought to the Webber Gallery in person on the specified dates of artwork delivery and must be displayed according the parameters specified below. The 2022, “Best of the Season,” exhibition will be on view from Nov. 7 to Dec. 8, 2022. The juror for this show will be Ginger Sheridan, and nine prizes will be awarded based on her selections.

About the Juror

Ginger Sheridan retired as a full professor of art in photography at Jacksonville University in 2021. Her work aims to express the ultra-personal, unseen connection between the viewer and objects or domestic spaces. She works on a small scale to emphasize the intimacy of the art. Sheridan is an avid lecturer in both the U.S. and Europe, and has exhibited in over 30 shows nationally and globally. More recent exhibitions of her work include Santa Trinita Gallery in Florence, Italy and the Brest Gallery, Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, FL.
