Artworks Center for Contemporary Art is the largest studio artist community in Northern Colorado dedicated to advancing the contemporary arts. With desirable studio and gallery space, artists are free to work solo or take advantage of collaborative opportunities. We are a non-profit 501 (c) 3 and rely on the generous support of donors, patrons, and artists like you! Proceeds from the 7th Annual Square Foot Auction support exhibitions and artist development year-round. For participating artists, the Auction provides attractive, high-profile exposure nationally. We encourage your continued support! In addition to supporting a charitable event, artists who are juried in enjoy the following benefits: 

• Inclusion in the 7th Annual Square Foot Auction, which is presented in the center’s main gallery, and runs from September 23-30, 2022. 

• One complimentary ticket and one guest ticket the opening gala honoring participating artists, Friday evening, September 23, 2022. 

• All juried works are included in the online catalog available on the ACCA’s website. 

• Widespread regional advertising and promotion of the Auction.  

• Special acknowledgment for artists making full donations on our website.

Guest Juror: Collin Parson

Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Collin Parson currently serves as the Director of Galleries and Curator for the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities in Arvada, Colorado and is a former member at the historic Pirate: Contemporary Art cooperative and past artist-in-residence at RedLine Denver. An arts administrator, artist, curator, and designer he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater Design and Technology with emphasis in Lighting and Scene Design from the University of Colorado at Boulder and his Master in Arts in Visual Culture and Arts Administration from Regis University in Denver. His creative work involves the control of light and color to create vivid geometric light and space works. He has had the privilege of jurying many arts festivals and exhibitions and has received many awards and recognition for his curatorial projects. He was awarded 100 Colorado Creatives by Westword magazine in 2013 and featured in many television and print productions. Parson is the son of Colorado sculptor Charles Parson, whose experience with the regions arts community helped Collin long before his professional career began. Growing up in a family of artists, Collin is proud to be continuing the educational and creative traditions.

Application Requirements

• Artists may submit up to six pieces. 

• Artworks Center for Contemporary Art's 7th Annual Square Foot Auction is open to all original media (2-D and 3-D). Reproductions, including giclées and mechanical prints on canvas, will be disqualified with the exception of limited edition original work. Photography is eligible. Note: If submitting photographic artwork, please briefly state the type of process and medium used in developing and printing.

All work must be either one square foot or one cubic foot including any framing

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility and Judging: 

• Artworks Center for Contemporary Art's 7th Annual Square Foot Auction is open to all original media (2-D and 3-D). Reproductions, including giclées and mechanical prints on canvas, will be disqualified with the exception of limited edition original work. Photography is eligible. Note: If submitting photographic artwork, please briefly state the type of process and medium used in developing and printing.

All work must be either one square foot or one cubic foot

• Artists residing in the U.S. mountain states: Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. Larimer County residents apply FREE. Please contact info@artworksloveland.org for your discount code. Artworks alumni may enter for free as well, regardless of where they live currently. 

• Up to six works may be submitted. Works will be juried based on the digital entries. Usually, no more than two to four works from one artist are selected. 

• Submitted work must be created within the last three years. 

• Works submitted to past Square Foot Auctions are not eligible. 

• All 2-D works must be ready to hand and measure one square foot whether framed or unframed. All 3-D works must have proper supports, hanging devices, and, if needed, instructions for installation. 

• Artworks will not be responsible for works framed/mounted in an unstable manner. 

• Only selected work will be included; no substitutions. Upon receipt of the actual work, Artworks reserves the right to disqualify work that was not adequately represented or suitably prepared for exhibition. 

Liability: 

• Artworks insures all works on its premises from arrival through departure from the premises or October 7th, 2022, whichever comes first. Artists will be responsible for insuring work in transit to ACCA. 

• Submission of work to this exhibition shall constitute an agreement on the part of the artist to the conditions set forth in this document, and shall further include permission to reproduce work online and for publicity. 

Shipping: 

• Shipping to Artworks is the responsibility of the artist. Artworks may choose not to include work that arrives late. Following the Auction, unsold works will be returned to the artists at the artist’s expense, with the shipment mode chosen at the discretion of the artist. 

• Unsold artwork must be either picked up or shipping arrangements made no later than October 7th, 2022.

• If the artist changes residence at any time during the process of submission and exhibition, he or she must send written notification to ensure safe return of artwork and/or payment for sales. 

Auction:

• Bidding starts at $200. All reserves are $200. 

• The “Buy it Now” price should be close to the retail price, but pieces may sell for the opening bid of $200. The minimum "Buy it Now" price will be no less than $250. Thank you for keeping in mind that this event is a fundraiser! 

Split: 

ACCA will retain the percentage you select below, based on the actual sale price. The minimum is 75%. We warmly thank those who are submitting 100% donations! Your support of the center goes far in maintaining the high quality of exhibitions and programs at Artworks.
