The 7th Biennial Western Cast Iron Conference invites you to submit up to five works for our Juried Student /Professional Cast Iron Art Exhibitions. A max of five images includes additional details of a work. These exhibitions take place during the 2022 iron conference and will be on display in Vermillion, South Dakota in the University Galleries at the University of South Dakota.  The exhibitions run October 5- October 9 2022.  Deadline for submissions is September 10th, 2022 by midnight MST.  Artwork should include iron as sculpture, image, photograph, print, pigment, etc. Work can incorporate additional media and should express individual personal concept and celebrate craft, process and creative design. Call open to conference participants.  There are no scale requirements, but artist must supply detailed installation instructions.  Artist is responsible for shipping to and from Vermillion or hand delivery in person. All accepted work must arrive in Vermillion no later than October 3rd, 2022 or hand delivered by October 5.

If submitting digital video or audio, please share as a YouTube or Vimeo link. You must supply your own hardware for screening digital/audio works.

Open to conference participants currently enrolled in educational institutions.

As mentors and leaders in the iron casting community the premise of this exhibition is to celebrate the vast range of approaches to creative expression using cast iron as a medium. Two- dimensional and three-dimensional works with iron considered. If submitting digital video or audio, please share as a YouTube or Vimeo link. You must supply your own hardware for screening digital/audio works.

Open to conference participants not currently enrolled in an educational institution.

Opening Reception: 6-8pm Friday, October 7, 2022 

 

Venue: John A. Day Gallery, W.M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts, University of South Dakota.

The gallery is 54’x54’ and we have 4 movable walls.  Ceiling grid can support weight up to 800lbs. Numerous pedestals of various sizes.
