Call Description

ELIGIBILITY The competition is open to all US residents 18 years of age or older, excluding members of fotofoto gallery. Any photographic medium including digital and alternative processes will be accepted. The maximum height or width of framed work cannot exceed 36 inches. Free-standing pieces cannot be accepted. SUBMISSIONS All entries must be submitted via the CaFE system, mail-in entries will not be considered. Images must conform to CaFE formatting standards, instructions can be found in the CaFE help section. FOR ACCEPTED ENTRIES Approximately 40 photographs will be chosen for a four week exhibition in December 2012. Shipping information will be provided to artists selected for participation upon completion of the jury process. To ensure the cohesiveness of the exhibition, we request that work be framed in a simple black or dark color with neutral museum quality mats (no colors please) AWARDS & SPONSORS Naomi Rosenblum will select a 1st, 2nd, 3rd place and honorable mention awards. Sponsors and fotofoto gallery will furnish prizes for each. ABOUT FOTOFOTO GALLERY fotofoto Gallery was formed in 2003 by a group of fine art photographers desiring to create a center where photographic visions could be exchanged. Now in our ninth year, fotofoto Gallery continues to be a place for the photographic community and students to view a wide range of photographic processes including traditional black and white, digital, experimental and alternative processes. The gallery hosts twelve exhibitions each year and reaches out to the community by providing invitational shows, workshops and lectures. The gallery has recently moved to a new space located in the heart of Huntington, New York and is open on weekends and by appointment. We are a 501c3 charitable organization. ABOUT THE JUROR Naomi Rosenblum, an independent curator and scholar has written many articles and lectured extensively on a range of subjects in photography. Her seminal work, A World History of Photography was published in 1984. The book has been translated into French, Japanese, Polish, and Chinese, and has been updated and expanded through many editions. It has become the standard resource for photographic education. Rosenblum is also the author of A History of Women Photographers and curated a traveling exhibition based on this book. She and her husband Walter were awarded the Infinity Award for Lifetime Achievement by the International Center for Photography FEES 5 images - $40. Image 6 -15 may be submitted for an additional charge of $5 per image. Please note: You must submit no fewer than 5 images.
