The Art Advocacy Project 2D (commonly known as TAAP 2D) is a one-year on-loan program designed to promote regional artists through the public display of their artworks and provides a means for artwork sales. This project is open to all Colorado artists of two-dimensional media. Selected artworks may be for sale; however, this is not required.

Seven new two-dimensional works of art will be showcased in the Loveland Public Library’s Central Galleria in March 2023. This project is ideal for amateur and professional artists wishing to display their work. A wide variety of mediums have been shown through this annual project. Applications will be reviewed by a jury panel consisting of Art in Public Places representatives and public volunteers.

New to the program this year, the Loveland Art in Public Places collaborates with the Loveland Poet Laureate Committee to add a poetry component to each artwork selected for this on-loan exhibit. Artists submitting their artwork for this project must be aware and agree to have a poet create a poem relating to their artwork, should their submission be accepted for display. The poem will be displayed near the art at the library. Please note the selected artist will have a time commitment associated with this project. The selected artist will need to discuss the artwork with a poet. Also, there will be a public reception should the selected artist choose to attend. (Approximately a total of 3 hours. 1 - interview; 2 for a public reception).

Selected artworks will be displayed at the Loveland Public Library from late February 2023 until mid-February 2024.

How to apply

This project is open to all Colorado artists of two-dimensional media and will be compensated with an honorarium of $350.00.

  • Selected artwork must be considered Museum “ready to hang” to an art railing with D-ring hardware. All artwork must be professionally fabricated, framed with protective glass (when applicable), and durable enough for public display.
  • Selected artwork must remain on display for the duration of the program. Exceptions will be made for photography. Photographs (that are part of a limited edition) may be sold and replaced for display within the first six months of hanging.
  • Artists may submit up to two different works of art in their application. If submitting more than one artwork, please label your submissions clearly and include the dimensions for each piece (including the frame) in your artist statement.
  • Artwork submitted must be created by the artist who created the work and must be an original. (Exceptions are photographic editions.)
  • The Artist must own all rights to display the artwork.
  • Due to space limitations, artwork larger than 4' x 4' may not be easily accommodated; however, it may be considered for installation.  Reminder: Be sure to include accurate dimensions, including the frame.
