Entry Procedure
Exhibition is open to residents of Virginia aged 40 and under.

The 10th annual 40UNDER40 exhibition is seeking submissions from Virginia based artists age 40 and under. We are looking for works that will challenge viewers and push boundaries of themes, materials, and media. Accepting all media including visual, video, installation, and sound. 

This exhibit will take place in person and virtually. A printed catalog will be produced as well

 ALL ONLINE ENTIRES MUST BE COMPLETED NO LATER THAN MIDNIGHT February 10, 2022, Mountain Standard Time

 SPECIFICATIONS
All accepted artwork must hang for the duration of the exhibit and be ready for hanging with appropriate hanging hardware and hanging wire, or able to stand freely on their own. Installation or alternatively presented pieces are welcome and feel free to email with questions about presentation. Poorly matted or framed paintings may be disqualified.

METHOD OF SELECTION
Piper Groves, Director and Curator of SVAC will serve as juror for this exhibit.  Artists will be notified of the juror’s choice. Selected paintings must then be submitted for the exhibition. 
Please ensure what you listed on your entry matches the painting you deliver for consideration by the juror. Paintings that are found to be non-compliant with the prospectus rules will be withdrawn from the exhibition. 

NOTIFICATION
All artists will be notified of the juror’s decision by email no later than February 12.

DELIVERY/PICK-UP OF PAINTINGS
Shipped artwork- must be delivered NO LATER than March 1, 2022 and include prepaid return shipping. Shipped works will be sent back by April 8, 2022.

Hand delivered art work- will be received on Saturday February 26 10-4pm or Tuesday March 1 10-4pm.

LIABILITY AND AGREEMENT
Every care will be taken by the Shenandoah Valley Art Center. It is suggested that artists wishing protection during shipping insure their works independently. SVAC has artists’ permission to use an image of accepted painting for publicity purposes. Submission of a work to the exhibition shall constitute an agreement to comply with all conditions set in this prospectus. If a submitted painting is found to be non-compliant it will not be exhibited and will be returned to the artist in the manner it was delivered. The artist will not be eligible to submit to the 2023 exhibition.

SALES
All submission must include prices. NFS is acceptable. Prices listed on entry form may not be changed. 20% commission will be charged by SVAC. Please consider this fee with determining your price.

Application Requirements
