The goal of the 2023 Macon Mural Festival (MMF) is to brand Macon, GA as a vibrant and creative destination. This year, we are seeking 3 – 5 artists to participate in this 3-day event. Each participating artist will be given a prepped wall to complete their mural and a $1,000 stipend. Murals can be open theme but must be approved by the business that sponsors the wall. Thanks to our generous sponsor, Triangle Arts, the first 40 artists to apply will have their $25 entry fee reimbursed.
To kick off the festival, artists will arrive in Macon, GA on Thursday, September 7th. The festival will host a kick-off breakfast on Friday, September 8th, and then artists will have all day Friday and Saturday to complete their murals. All murals will be unveiled on Saturday, September 9th at our MMF Celebration Party.
One artist will be selected as our featured artist in residence. The festival will provide the featured artist lodging, the largest wall, and a higher stipend for their mural materials. This artist will also receive the most press for the event.
The Macon Mural Festival is hosted by Macon Arts Alliance. Macon Arts Alliance fosters support for the advancement of arts and culture in Central Georgia. We strive to be an innovative leader of a thriving regional arts community.
