Artwork not following this criteria will be disqualified.

JUDGING

Judging occurs in two phases. The initial judging will take place from May 30 - June 1, 2023. During this time, the juror will select the artwork to be accepted into the exhibit. After all accepted artwork has arrived, the juror will view the exhibit in person to select the award-winning artwork. Winners will be announced at the opening reception on July 7, 2023 at 7pm.

NOTIFICATION

Results of the first phase of judging will be emailed by June 2, 2023.

All notifications will be sent by email through Callforentry.org.  These emails occasionally end up in one's spam/junk box.  Please add the Callforentry.org email address to your address book.

ACCEPTED WORK

Accepted artists will receive instructions for shipping and hand delivery. Shipping and return shipping costs and insurance are the responsibility of the artist. All entries will be handled with reasonable care, but neither TRAHC nor its representatives will be responsible for loss or damage.

Reusable shipping containers only. TRAHC encourages artists to insure their artwork when shipping.

No packing peanuts allowed. Any shipped artwork found with packing peanuts will not be unpacked, displayed, or eligible for an award.

Shipping via FedEx or UPS is mandatory. Any artwork arriving through USPS will be held until a pre-paid return-shipping label from FedEx or UPS is provided. All shipped artwork must include a pre-paid return-shipping label from either FedEx or UPS. Please make sure the return label is addressed to you. Artwork without a pre-paid shipping label from either UPS or FedEx will not be considered for an award.

Artists may hand-deliver accepted artwork to TRAHC by making an appointment to deliver the work. Appointments should be made with Chris Wicker at chrisw@trahc.org. No unscheduled drop offs will be accepted. All hand delivered work should be wrapped or boxed for protection. No unprotected works will be accepted.

Either party will sign in the artwork by providing contact information for the individual dropping off the work. A secondary contact must be given in case the initial contact cannot be reached during pickup.

All accepted artwork is due by Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 4:00 p.m.

JUROR

Iris Bechtol is an artist and curator living in Oak Cliff – Dallas, TX. With a passion for sharing the work of emerging and underrepresented artists, her curatorial practice carefully considers exhibition projects as they reflect the community. Creating access through education, her projects present diverse perspectives in a platform that combines exhibitions with engaging discussions, workshops, and lectures. She received her Master of Fine Arts in Intermedia from the University of Texas at Arlington and is currently the Curator and Gallery Coordinator at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center, a division of the City of Dallas, Office of Arts and Culture. Bechtol was an integral member of Texas’ oldest artist collaborative, 500X Gallery from 2001-2005. She is founder and curator for Terrain Dallas, a temporary public exhibition space focusing on exhibiting temporary interventions by established and emerging artists in and around the conventional landscape of a suburban front yard.

Outside of her curatorial practice and work supporting artists, Iris continues her studio practice centered exploring the human condition. Using various materials and methods, her work explores how we are connected to our surroundings and how that impacts the body and mind’s place in the world. Recently she has become interested in the formal and philosophical relationships between organic and industrial materials as they relate to the human experience.
