6th Street Studios & Art Center is celebrating veterans in our 2nd annual online and in-person Veteran's exhibition. Local artists and families of veterans are welcome to submit works to be displayed in our physical location, while out-of-region artists can submit for the online show. All art must be done by a veteran, an active duty member, or a reservist. Artwork is not required to be done by veterans only, we are celebrating military members in addition to those who have served in the past.
Veterans have fought for our freedom and deserve continued support, appreciation and tribute. This exhibition aims to celebrate our creative Veterans by providing them a platform to showcase their artwork in whatever medium that may be. The theme is "Our True Heroes," and any interpretation of this theme is welcome. The exhibition in our window gallery will be lit and visible 24/7, with heavy foot traffic on one of the busier streets in Downtown Gilroy. The exhibition will be open to the public during our downtown's Veteran's parade, and we are partnering with the Gilroy Veteran's hall nextdoor on the exhibition, and the parade. In addition to this, the artist reception will be on 11/17/23 during the Military themed Third Friday Art Walk in downtown Gilroy. The gallery hours are Mon-Friday 9-2pm.
At least one submission from each artist will be accepted. Only local artists are eligible for the in-person show, and must be able to drop off and pick up their artwork. We do not ship works.
The online exhibition will be available on our website for the duration of the exhibition, and the work can be for sale if the artist chooses.
You will be asked to fill out information on our spreadsheet, which will go directly into the show. Please make sure are familiar with Google Sheets, or have someone who can help you. Our exhibitions run on a volunteer basis, please be patience with us if things are moving slowly. Alternatively, we are always looking for volunteers to help us with these shows! If you're interested in volunteering to jury, or administer these shows, please contact us. All fees go towards exhibition costs. We are a 501(c)3.
