Artists who create fine wearables, wall  installations, or unique surface designs are invited to apply  for inclusion  in this exhibition with awards totaling over $4,000.  We welcome art created to decorate our bodies or our environments. All mediums considered for the following categories: wearable art, jewelry, accessories, contemporary art quilts, unique surface designs, and 3D sculptural pieces made primarily using fibers and upcycled found materials .

Lighthouse ArtCenter is voted one of the top three galleries in Palm Beach County, Florida.  With over 2,500 square feet of  freshly renovated, well–lighted exhibition space, and almost 60 years in business Lighthouse ArtCenter  is the cultural heart of a vibrant community.

Artwork to arrive at Lighthouse ArtCenter between the hours of 9-5 August 28—30, 2023    

Exhibition opens: September 7

Awards reception and Guest lecture:  October 19

Ticketed Runway Show:  November 16

Exhibition closes: December 2 

Unsold pieces shipped  or picked up by December 8

 

Application Requirements

GUIDELINES

Artist information:  The name you list is the name by which your work will be labeled for exhibition.

Spelling and capitalization will be reproduced in the same manner you enter them on your application and all correspondence will be directed to the address, phone, and email address provided therein.

Information about each piece must include:

Artist name:

Title:

Size in inches:  Width x Height x Depth

Photo credit: If photo is not by the artist

Digital image submission guidelines:  Failure to comply with the digital image submission guidelines may result in the rejection of your submission.

Submit three digital images for each work:  One front, one back, one detail.

Save your digital images as high quality .jpg files (no tiff files, please)

Each image should measure 2400 pixels on the longest side with a resolution of 300 dpi

Do not add a drop shadow to your image.

Special note:

LAC encourages you to send the best quality photos you can.  The images you send are the only representation by which jurors will know your work, and your high resolution images could be used in advertising and printed materials.  Photos should be in sharp focus, showing all edges, well lit, with correct color and no distortions.

Consideration is by digital images only submitted through CallForEntry.org

Artists may submit up to three works per application.  Submissions may include wearable and wall art.

Ensembles are considered one work, eligible for one award and offered with one price.

For application purposes, jewelry sets containing necklace and earrings must be considered one work if sold together at one price. 

All work must be the original art of the applicant, no work made from commercial kits, or artificial intelligence will be considered.

Eligibility:

All work must meet the requirements in the prospectus; any work that deviates from these parameters will be rejected and returned at the artist’s expense.

All accepted work must be in pristine condition and show ready.

All work must have a label securely fastened on the inside or the back.  This label must contain the artist’s name and contact information, title of the work, dimensions, media, and price or NFS (not for sale).

Artists are responsible for shipping and insurance to and from the exhibition.  Details for shipping will be provided upon completion of the jurying process.

Lighthouse ArtCenter (LAC) prefers (but does not insist) that the work be offered for sale.  LAC collects and pays all sales tax.  Artists receive 60% of sales and LAC retains a 40% commission. Artists are paid within two weeks of the close of the exhibition.

Rules and Terms to Apply:

If lighted display cases are required they must be provided by the artist with the advance approval of the curator.

Accepted works must arrive at Lighthouse ArtCenter with all of the necessary means for installation.  Work which arrives without the proper hanging mechanism will not be shown regardless of whether it was accepted by the jury.

3D Art must be delivered ready to install with an appropriate base if necessary. 

Size Restrictions

Wall pieces:  No larger than 72” x 72” x 6”

Work must hang from a standard four inch rod pocket sewn into the back of the work or from wire attached for hanging.  The wire must not be visible above the work when it is installed and the back of the piece must hang flush against the wall.

3D pieces: No more than 35 lbs. without prior approval of the curator.

No more than 35 lbs. without prior approval of the curator.

 Art that has been shown at Lighthouse ArtCenter in the past is not eligible to be shown again. 

The ArtCenter hereby agrees that the loan of the works under this Agreement is for purposes of exhibition and sale, unless marked NFS (not for sale), the objects lent may be photographed or reproduced by the ArtCenter for educational, catalogue, and publicity purposes.
