The Art of Fashion, call for photography entries is designed to inform and educate the people of Alaska and beyond of the tremendous amount of fashion talent residing in the state. By "Fashion Talent" we mean photography, modeling, hair, makeup and clothing design - though the latter is not mandatory, as we recognize that a good percentage of fashion photography composed by Alaskan residents does not include attire created in the state, nor specifically designed for the shoot. Entrants can submit up to three photographs per entry. To submit more photographs, entrant must create a new profile. Entrant cannot add or modify an entry once it is posted. Winners of the 2012 Art of Fashion Competition will be published in the February 2013 3rd Annual Art of Fashion issue of F Magazine. This year's call for entries is now conducted as a competition as last year yielded so many entries, we decided to seek outside (of F Magazine staff) input and assistance. Due the nature we have to charge a nominal fee so to cover our costs of receiving entries and paying our judges. Our judges will be looking at creativity, originality, design of shot, quality of makeup and hair design, ability of model to capture the moment, and overall composition. Entries must include full names of all individuals that worked on the shoot, their capacity, and the brand name or designers name of any clothing depicted in the shot. The call for entries closes December 15, 2012; 11pm Alaska Standard Time (midnight, Mountain Standard Time). Judges will make their final decisions of 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners and runners ups no later than January 15, 2013. F Magazine will contact winning and runner up entrants and request high resolution images (at least 300 dpi) by January 17, 2013; entrants will have until January 20, 2013 to comply. There is a fast turnaround, so there is no room for leniency. Be sure, if you are traveling, you let us know who to reach, should you be chosen, and have your high res images on hand. Please note, a request for a high resolution image does not guarantee your image will make publication, as there is space limitation, and layout editors often don't know exactly how many images they need until right before going to print. We will, however, publish all 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners, and do our best to publish all runners-up. Full placement of winners will be announced in the February 2013 issue, on the website and in subsequent press releases, no later than February 8, 2013. F Magazine is an Alaska-based arts and culture publication. An Art House Resident Group of Out North Contemporary Art House, F Magazine is entirely volunteer owned and run. The mission of F Magazine is to bolster arts consciousness in Alaska by bridging the gap between artists and the general public. F Magazine LLC, in conjunction with fhideout.org and Out North Contemporary Art House, hosts a number of different annual competitions. These competitions are designed to raise visibility of Alaska's arts, increase community engagement of the arts, and encourage artists to raise their own bar.
