The Town of Davie will wrap digital versions of artworks on traffic signal boxes located throughout the Town. The goal of the program is to add an attractive and creative touch along our corridors by transforming a traffic signal box into a piece of art. This beautification effort will enhance the experience of all those visiting the corridors and help prevent the vandalization of boxes. Site visits are encouraged but not required. Artists are required to sign over one-time reproduction rights of their artwork.

Application Requirements

Themes

The artwork submitted must be a minimum resolution of 360 DPI. The theme is: What does Davie mean to you (equestrian/rodeo, agriculture, wildlife, nature/environmental, historical significance) and should be readable from cars yet contain some intimacy for pedestrians.  No logos, numbers, or words are to be used in the design.

Box Locations

The utility boxes are located at different arterials and neighborhoods throughout the Town. The metal utility boxes sit on the ground at intersections. They vary in size, but many are around 5’x2’x4’ feet. For exact locations and dimensions of boxes, please click on SITE PLAN link.

Submittal Requirements

Artists are to submit up to five (5) images with a minimum resolution of 360 dpi. These images are the works of art the artist is proposing for the vinyl wraps.

Installation

The Town will contract with a vinyl wrapping company to install the artwork.

Artist Selection Process

The selection process is managed by the Town of Davie. The Town of Davie Public Art Advisory Committee will serve as the selection committee to recommend proposed artwork for Town Council approval.

Background on the Town of Davie

The Town of Davie is home to nearly 107,000 residents who live across a lush 35 square miles within central Broward County. The Town’s rural atmosphere, western-themed district, and sprawling educational complex foster an environment that separates Davie from all other municipalities in Broward County. Our green open spaces, numerous parks, over 165 miles of the trail system, and the opportunity to live an equestrian lifestyle are amenities you can’t find in today’s growing South Florida.

The Town of Davie is also the nexus of higher education in South Florida where several nationally known colleges, technical institutes, and universities make up the South Florida Educational Center.

Davie’s business climate ranges from your typical small proprietor to the headquarters of Fortune 500 firms such as Teva Pharmaceuticals. Davie is ideally located among major thoroughfares such as the Ronald Reagan Turnpike, I-595, and I-75, and is within a few minutes travel to the Fort Lauderdale / Hollywood International Airport and Florida's deepest port, Port Everglades.
