About Palisade Art Vision, PAV
PAV was formed in 2015 by a group of local citizens and artists to promote and embrace "Art as a part of everyday life." PAV envisioned an outdoor sculpture program to promote a visible aesthetic voice and to supplement the agriculture tourism of Palisade. With the collaboration of the Town of Palisade Government, Palisade Chamber of Commerce, local businesses, art galleries and artists, PAV has grown from four temporary pieces to over a dozen and has purchased or sold five of the exhibited sculptures.
Eligibility
- Regional call for the following States: Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, New Mexico, and Arizona.
- Sculpture(s) must be exhibited for the full length of the exhibit which is approximately one year.
- Sculpture(s) must be ready for installation, Friday, Saturday, 22, 2023.
- Previous Public Art experience while valued, is not required.
Design and Selection
- Both representational and non-representational are welcomed.
- Size - nominally 12 inches to 9 feet tall and interesting from multiple angles.
- Palisade has recently added outdoor restaurant venues which has greatly added to the need of both quantity and diversity of sculpture possibilities.
- Sculpture(s) must be made of materials appropriate for outdoor public locations in Colorado weather.
- ADA and touch friendly.
- Quality and craftsmanship.
Artist stipends and sculpture purchase
- Each artist will receive a stipend, $750 for sidewalk or 24" diameter pedestal sculptures, $350 for small 12" pedestal sculptures.
- Two nights complimentary lodging for out of town sculptors.
- Palisade Hospitality Package to all past and current sculptors (2015-2023).
- PAV will handle all sales and retain a 25% commission for any sculpture purchase during the exhibit or as a direct result of this exhibit.
- PAV welcomes Otocast.com to boost our marketing and connectivity to other programs and to your artwork!
Installation
- Your presence and experience with your sculpture are expected during the installation.
- Sculpture(s) should arrive early Friday, September 22,2023, with installation taking place late morning to the afternoon.
- Pedestal pieces must have a metal plate to be welded in place.
- Sidewalk pieces must have brackets that allow for bolting directly to cement.
- We have equipment and an experienced installation crew.
How to apply & timetable
- Applications through CaFE or you may request an email submission at brusche@townofpalisade.org
- You may submit up to two sculptures, 2-3 images per sculpture. You will have to submit twice to enter two sculptures.
- July 9, 2023 - SUBMISSION DUE through CaFE or email info@palisadecoc.com
- July 10-24 - Jurying process by PAV committee.
- July 27 - notifications to all sculptors.
- August - Communication with each selected artist about individual installation needs and questions.
- September 22- Installation - meet in front of The Blue Pig Gallery, 3rd & Main Street. Sculptures will be veiled following installation.
- September 23 - Morning - plaques installed. 10AM
- 5PM - Unveiling & Sculpture walk, approximately 1/2 mile.
- Celebrate the Blue Pig's* 15th Birthday!
