PROSPECTUS 
Artists are continuously challenging their boundaries and excavating their unique discoveries to create new and bold work. Studio Channel Islands invite you to enter your most recent break-through pieces, the ones that have led you to the horizon of your work’s next evolution!

All media and styles are welcome.

Juror: Shana Nys Dambrot

Shana Nys Dambrot is an art critic, curator, and author based in Downtown LA. She is the Arts Editor for the L.A. Weekly, and a contributor to Flaunt, Art & Cake, and Artillery. She studied Art History at Vassar College, curates and juries exhibitions, writes prolifically for exhibition catalogs and monographic publications, speaks at galleries, schools, and cultural institutions nationally, and is the author of the experimental novella Zen Psychosis (2020, Griffith Moon). She is the recipient of the 2022 Mozaik Future Art Writers Prize, the 2022 Rabkin Prize for Art Criticism, and the LA Press Club National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Critic of the Year award for 2022.

CATEGORIES ACCEPTED 
This exhibition accepts 2D/3D works, video, film, performance, sound, installation art. All submissions must be the artist’s original work.

Plus professional installation documentation of the exhibition provided to all successful artists (worth $1,500).

Application Requirements

All submissions must be of original artwork, completed within the last three years.

Artwork made up of multiple pieces should be included as a single application.

All placement and installation of artwork to be done at the discretion of the professional installation team. 

All work must be delivered within the time frame given by gallery. No late deliveries will be accepted. 

Artist must indicate vertical or horizontal orientation of each piece and include any special installation instructions. 

Installation team will take requests into consideration but final decision on cost and safety to be made by the gallery.

All 2D artwork must be delivered ready to hang with appropriate hardware. No saw-tooth hangers. Pedestals will be provided for 3D artwork. 

Eligibility Criteria

Open to all artists ages 18 and up. 

All media. Limited video and live performance options available. 

2D artwork must be no larger than 8ft high. 

All art work submitted shall be original and created by the artist. Artwork previously exhibited at the Blackboard Gallery is not permissible.
