The SAA seeks works of contemporary art that utilize and showcase fibers. We invite submissions that reflect a wide range of works related to the fiber medium, from raw fibers to high fashion and everything in-between. The goal of the exhibition is to showcase innovative work that explores both traditional materials and processes as well as those that expand the use of fiber with other media, processes, and disciplines.

The show will run from Friday, September 1 through Saturday, September 30. A reception and awards ceremony will be held Friday, September 8 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. A total of $1,200 in prizes will be awarded.

Our juror will be Ann Coddington. Ann utilizes a variety of traditional and innovative fiber techniques including twining, looping, lashing and netting in her sculptural forms. Her recent work is deeply rooted in organic vessels that reference the body, natural and found objects, that enter into a complex dialogue about our place in the world and our impact on the environment. Her work has been shown across the United States and Internationally. Ann is a Professor of Art and Graduate Coordinator at Eastern Illinois University. She received her MFA from the University of Illinois Sculpture Department, and her BFA from the Colorado State University Fibers Department.

Accepted works must be delivered to the SAA by Saturday, August 26. Shipped works must be accompanied by a prepaid return shipping label and a completed loan form. Works must be installation ready with all required hardware and installation instructions as needed. Works may be for sale, but it is not required. The SAA retains a 35% commission on all sales.
