Prospectus for 16th Annual Juried Exhibit

The Columbia City Gallery is pleased to announce a Call for Entries for its 16th Annual Juried Exhibit. Jurors for the exhibit are Inye Wokoma, artist, filmmaker, journalist, and co-founder of Wa Na Wari; Hanako O'Leary, Artist; and Tommy Gregory, artist/curator, Senior Art Program Manager for Public Art/Port of Seattle. The exhibit will run from August 9 - September 24, 2022.

Artists in all media (2D, 3D) are encouraged to submit artwork completed within the past two years that reflects the theme, Heroes and Villains.  Awards: $500 First place submission; $300 Second place submission; and $200 Third place submission.

For a $25 entry fee, you may submit up to 3 pieces of artwork for consideration.  We are accepting entries via Café (callforentry.org).  You may upload 1 images of all 2D artworks and/or up to 3 images for 3D artworks. The entry fee can be paid online through Cafe. Your entry is not complete until payment is received.

The theme of this exhibit is "Heroes and Villains," inviting visitors to explore the multifaceted nature of iconic figures, histories, and personal stories. The exhibition showcases the intricate interplay between good and evil, challenging conventional perceptions and evoking introspection. Explore visual narratives that question the blurred lines and moral complexities that shape our understanding of heroes and villains.

Important Dates:

  • Entry deadline is June 30, 2023 at midnight (MT)  (Please note this is 11:00pm pacific time.)
  • Notifications emailed by July 13, 2023
  • Accepted artwork must be delivered on August 7 before noon
  • Artists’ Reception and Awards Ceremony, August 12 (5-7pm)
  • All (unsold) artwork must be picked up on September 25

Additional Terms:

·All artwork in the exhibit must be for sale; the gallery takes a 50% commission on works sold.

·The artist agrees that images of artwork may be used in publicity materials.

·If you cannot deliver your artwork, shipping costs are your responsibility. A pre-printed shipping label for return shipment must be included with your work.

·The Gallery reserves the right to reject work that is not represented accurately in the image or that arrives damaged, poorly constructed or poorly presented.

·2-D works must be properly prepared for exhibition with wire securely attached. Sculpture must be able to stand on its own without wobble.

·Each accepted work must arrive with an id label with your name and artwork title securely attached to the back of frame or bottom of sculpture.
