Brief

Create a vessel (container used to hold things) for the physical world that addresses the design concepts in the work of Stephen Burks, especially blending contemporary design with craft. 

Characteristics and inspiration must consider:

·      Use of indigenous or natural materials

·      Traditional craft with new technology in a contemporary design

Graphic Presentation

-       11" x 17" full color high resolution graphic presentation

-       3-D image of design in context and scale (3 image max)

-       3-5 High Resolution images (300dpi) uploaded

Design Statement

300-word Word Document - max

Judging Criteria

1.     Evidence of applied research and process

2.     Originality and creativity of the concept

3.     Ability to be manufactured

Announcement of Winners and Feedback session with judges

 STUDENT COMPETITION EXHIBITION

After the competition, a selection of the winning projects will be on published on the Philadelphia Museum of Art website, Collab online journal and displayed online through Collab/Philadelphia Museum of Art various social media platforms.

Second Prize: $500.00

Third Prize: $300.00

Two Honorable Mentions:  $200.00

Eligibility Criteria

 Eligibility - Students submitting projects to the Collab Student Design Competition must be currently enrolled in a college or university.
