PICTURE PERFECT SUMMER PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

PROSPECTUS
This juried photo competition hosted by Stein Ward Studio recognizes photographers for their work in an open theme event. It’s open to all amateur and professional photographers from all over the world, and selected works will be placed in our online gallery. Color, black and white, grayscale, monochrome and sepia works accepted.  Winning entries will be awarded over $500 in cash prizes and free entries into future calls hosted by the studio.

 

Application Requirements

DIVISIONS
This call offers two divisions: amateur and professional. An amateur photographers is defined as a photographer who takes photos as a hobby and not for a primary source of income. A professional is a photographer whose main source of income is by selling their photography. When entering, photographers will choose which division (professional or amateur) they are entering their photos. Only one division may be chosen for all photos from the same photographer.  Professionals and amateurs will be judged separately.
 
IMAGE PREPARATION
Images may be color, black and white, grayscale, sepia or monotone, JPG file format, minimum of 1200 pixels or greater on the longest size and maximum 5MB in size or less.

THEME
This is an open theme competition. 

ENTRY FEES
$35 for 1-3 entries. 
Payment is non-refundable and does not guarantee acceptance. Entry fee does guarantee entry will be judged.

CALL TYPE
All entries are via images from your CaFÉ portfolio. This is entirely an online event. Photos may be color, black and white, sepia, grayscale or monochrome and produced from a traditional analog film camera, mirrorless, DSLR, mobile phone photography, etc. Minor adjustments acceptable.

AWARDS
OVER $500 IN CASH AND PRIZES AWARDED AS FOLLOWS:

BEST OF SHOW Amateur Photo - $100 cash prize + 2 free entries into two future calls ($70 value.) Must be used individually, in two different calls hosted by Stein Ward Studio. Not redeemable for cash or other prizes.

BEST OF SHOW Professional Photo - $100 cash prize + 2 free entries into two future calls hosted by Stein Ward Studio ($70 value.) Not redeemable for cash or other prizes.

HONORABLE MENTIONS - Several select works will receive free entry into future calls hosted by the studio. All free entries earned are a value of $35 and may be used in any future call of the winner’s choosing that is hosted by Stein Ward Studio. May not be redeemed for cash.

** ADDED PRIZE MONEY 
For every 100 entries into this call, the studio will add an extra $50 in prize money to be split evenly between the two best of show class winners. Our last call, “My World in Black and White” photo competition welcomed 200 entries and the winners enjoyed an extra $50 payout in their prize money, totaling $150 each.

Excluding the Best of Show winners, Honorable Mention winners may only receive one free entry as an award regardless of how many winning entries the photographer entered. 

When entering, photographers will choose which class (professional or amateur) they are entering their photos. Only one class may be chosen for all photos from the same photographer.  Professionals and amateurs will not compete against each other.

Several entries will be juried into the winner's gallery. Prize money will only be sent via PayPal to the email address on file with CaFÉ. Best of Show and Honorable Mentions earning a free entry into a future call will be sent a coupon code which may be redeemed for any future call of their choice.

ORIGINAL WORK
All entries must be the work of the artist. No signatures, names, logos or watermarks should appear on the work. Copies or works based on another artist's work will not be accepted. There should be no frames or borders around the artwork. 

IMPORTANT DATES
Entries may be made from June 1 - September 1, 2023.
Entries will be juried from September 2 - 5, 2023.
Notifications will be emailed on or before September 5, 2023.
Gallery selections will display beginning September 10, 2023.

Prize money will be sent upon the studio’s receipt of final payout from WESTAF (CaFÉ). Winners will be notified prior to payout.

Notices of both accepted work and work that is not accepted will be emailed to the entrants. No other means of notification will be provided. If for any reason you do not hear from us by the notification date listed, please check the filters in your email account. Notification emails are sent to the email on file with CaFÉ. All communications are via email. 

ART SALES
No works will be offered for sale through this event. 
 

SELECTION PROCESS
Selected entries and winners will be juried by an anonymous committee of jurors and will remain anonymous to protect the integrity of the selection process. All decisions are final. Entrants agree that by entering the event, the jury selection is a paid opinion of the quality of the work from the juror’s own perspective and in no way represents the opinions of anyone else. This event is designed to be fun and to celebrate the art of photography and to reward artists in their craft. Two Best of Show winners will be selected for cash prizes. A few selections will earn Honorable Mention titles (no monetary prize). All selected photos will be on exhibition in our online photo gallery immediately following the jury dates.

SUBJECT MATTER
Only entries which contain the current theme (if applicable) will be accepted. Nudity, graphic content, vulgar text or other suggestive images will not be accepted. Work should be considered “family friendly” and safe for all ages and demographics to view. 

Eligibility Criteria

Previous accepted works in our other competitions are welcome as long as they meet the criteria set forth in these rules. Artists may be either amateur or professional and reside anywhere in the world.
