Arts Cheyenne is seeking unique pieces of work, where movement, color, sound and other sensory experiences are focused on, in addition to consideration of the environment the piece will be displayed in. There will be no electrical power available at any of the placement sites, therefore, natural elements must be relied upon for the movement required of each piece. Additionally, each piece must be self-contained, stable, and durable for both its environment and for the safety of any living thing nearby. The sculptures will be installed outdoors in various parks around the Cheyenne community from September 2023 until September 2024. Selected artists will be awarded an honorarium of $1,000.
Additional considerations include:
- Each piece must be original work
- Artwork must be securely attached to the work base/foundation
- Work may be painted, sculpted, welded, etc.
- Artwork should be thoughtful of the Wyoming elements, including, extreme wind, rain, snow, high/low temperatures and other factors
- *Note, it is not uncommon that we receive winds in excess of 40-50mph, therefore significant consideration of this force must be taken into account
- Artists must be available to assist in the installation of the artwork, with additional support from the City, County and/or Arts Cheyenne staff
- Foundation mounting sites will be designed and placed by either the City, County, or Arts Cheyenne
- Maximum height for each artwork is 20’
- Clearance to walk under or around each work must be taken into consideration, with 10’ above ground level as a recommendation
- All proposals will be reviewed for safety, stability, wind load, etc. and recommendations may be made in order to ensure each piece is successfully placed
- All sculptures must be available for installation by August, 2023
Any proposals not meeting the above requirements are subject to rejection

- Artist or statement of work
