A Hispanic Heritage Month Exhibit

September 15- October 14, 2023

EXHIBITION: The Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County is accepting artwork submissions for the inaugural exhibition of LatinXhibit. The LatinXhibit highlights the rich and diverse influence LatinX artists have on the history of American Art.  This exhibit will showcase artists from across the United States as well as featuring prominent and emerging local artists. Based on submitted pieces of artwork, the Arts Council’s Exhibition Committee will curate and select the artwork that will be featured at the Arts Center galleries, 301 Hay Street in downtown Fayetteville, NC from September 15- October 14, 2023.   

ENTRY:  Entries are due by 11:59PM on Sunday, August 20th. Artists can submit online via Café or they can email their submissions to Exhibits@theartscouncil.com.  Artists must submit/email their bio/resumes as well as a digital photo/copy of their work. 

The Exhibitions Committee will select artwork for inclusion based on submitted artworks. All exhibited works should have been completed within the last three years and may not have been shown or previously entered into ANY Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County exhibition. 

ELIBIGILITY:  Artists must be at least 18 years of age and reside within the United States of America.

ENTRY FEE: $15 for a maximum of 2 entries.

CATEGORIES/MEDIUMS: All 2D and 3D mediums to include (but not limited to): drawing, painting, photography, animation, sculpture, mixed media, printmaking, etc.

SPECIFICATIONS:  Artists who submit for this show should be of Latin American descent and submitted pieces may or may not reflect their cultural experiences, heritage and identity. If selected for this exhibition, the artist will be responsible for shipping/delivering the accepted pieces to the Arts Council at 301 Hay Street, Fayetteville NC 28301 NO LATER THAN September 11th (artwork received after September 13th will not show.  The artist is responsible for providing each work’s title, medium, size and sales price.  If a work is not for sale, please provide insurance value.  The Arts Council utilizes a Walker hanging system and exhibition works should be appropriately framed with a wire hanger in order to use this system.  Sculptures and 3-D art will be exhibited on pedestals that vary in size. Artists with complex or interesting hangs should be prepared to elaborate with pictures or diagrams of proper hanging procedures.  

SALES ARE ENCOURAGED: A minimum of 50% of each artist’s works exhibited should be for sale. The Arts Council will retain 30% commission from the sales price listed on your entry form. Items not for sale must be marked NFS (Not for Sale); however, an insurance value will be required on the entry form.  Insurance value must be within range of previously sold work.  All pieces purchased during the exhibit will remain through the end of the show and artists will receive payment within 30 days of the close of the exhibit.

IMAGE USE / COPYRIGHTS:  The artist retains all copyrights to submitted images and represented artwork.  Digital images submitted with the artist’s entry are for exhibition selection only and will be deleted after completion of the selection process. Artists selected to exhibit grant the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County rights to use the selected image(s) on printed materials and the gallery web site for promotional purposes only. The Arts Council retains no copyrights to the artist’s work.  

INSURANCE: All work is insured while at the Arts Council. Insurance value must be within range of work previously sold by the artist.

NOTIFICATION: Artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance no later than Wednesday, August 23rdth.  Notifications will be made via email.  Please type your email address carefully; if a mistake is made you will not be notified.

SHIPPING OF ARTWORK: The Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County does not take any responsibility for artwork lost/damaged prior to being received for the exhibit.  Artwork not received prior to September 13th will NOT be installed in the show. The Artist is responsible for all shipping costs and materials to send the artwork to Arts Council and must provide the Arts Council with a return shipping label or a fed-ex/ups shipping account number.

PICK UP OF INSTALLED WORKS: Installed entries may be picked up between Monday, October 16th and Friday, October 20th, during regular business hours (9:00AM – 5:00 PM).  If you cannot pick up your work during this timeframe, please make other arrangements with the Exhibit Coordinator at Exhibits@theartscouncil.com.  Works not picked up by this date, unless other arrangements are made, will be considered abandoned by the artist and become property of the Arts Council.
