NICHOLLS STATE UNIVERSITY, LEDET ART GALLERY NATIONAL JURIED TYPOGRAPHY EXHIBITION, 2023 October 16 - November 16, 2023
Nicholls State University and the Ledet Art Gallery is pleased to announce the 2023 National Juried Typeface Exhibition. Artists are invited to submit entries of original works created within the past two years.
AWARDS: 1st $500, 2nd $300, 3rd $200
ENTRY FEE: $25 for up to three entries
ENTRY DEADLINE: September 10, 2023
JUROR: Matthijs Herzberg. Matthijs is the owner and operator of Herzberg Design Co in New Orleans, Louisiana. He specializes in type design, brand identity, art directing, and everything related to letters. SHIPPING AND DELIVERY: Artists are responsible for all shipping and delivery costs. Works should be shipped via UPS or FedEx, (please do not use USPS) or hand-delivered. Either include a pre-paid (ready-to-use) label for return shipping in the package or send via email. Works should be well packed in reusable packing materials and packing instructions if necessary.
INSURANCE: Nicholls State University will provide insurance coverage for all artworks while on the Nicholls campus and art gallery premises. Insurance of artworks while in transit to and from Nicholls is the responsibility of the artist. Nicholls is not liable for any damage or loss occurring during transit.
SALES: Works can be available for purchase or listed as NFS (Not for Sale). A 20% commission will be taken on any sales.

ABOUT THE DANE LEDET ART GALLERY: The Dane Ledet Art Gallery is located in Talbot Hall on the main campus of Nicholls State University. The gallery is home to faculty, student, and visiting artist exhibitions throughout the academic year. Visiting the gallery is free and open to the public from 9 am- 4 pm Monday through Friday. Application Requirements
Entries must be the original works and available for the duration of the exhibit. Works received must be in good condition. Artwork should be professionally presented. Accepted works must be gallery ready. No saw-tooth hangers or breakable glass allowed. Works not gallery-ready, differing significantly from the entry images, or lacking in presentation or craftsmanship may be omitted from the show.
All entries will require the following: Up to 3 entries may be submitted. Each entry must include, artist name, title of work, medium, size (H x W x D inches), insurance value, and year completed. Uploaded entries must be labeled using the following template: jdoe_entry1. Image files must be JPEG or JPG, 1200 pixels or greater on the longest side and under 5MB. Video files can be MOV, MP4, WMV, 3GP, AVI, ASF, MPG, M2T, MKV, M2TS, and should be under 100 MB. Resolution is 640 x 480 minimum and 1920 x 1080 maximum. Aspect ratio either 4:3 or 16:9. Bit rate should be above 240 kbps and a frame rate between 12 fps and 30 fps. An online link can be submitted for videos using a URL through YouTube or Vimeo. Please Ensure the linked video is set to be shared publicly. Your video will not play if it is set to private.
Eligibility Criteria
This national juried exhibition is open to all US residents,18 years of age or older. Entries must have been completed within the last 2 years. Works in any media are eligible. Entries must fit through the gallery door (60 x 72 inches) and should weigh no more than 30 lbs.
