Blue Federal Credit Union and Blue Sport Stable is seeking design qualification applications for a future mural on the main exterior wall near the entrance of the Blue Sports Stable in Superior, CO. Experienced mural artists are eligible to apply and to be considered for the site-specific design commission. The selected design will be professionally vinyl printed and installed by a print contractor.

The Town of Superior is assisting Blue Federal Credit Union with the administrative needs of this call-for-entry. 

The vision of the Blue Federal Credit Union and Blue Sport Stable roughly 80’ wide and 20’ tall mural site is a highly stylized design that will incorporate logos, sports themes, and references to the local landscape to include:

Required:

·       Blue Sports Stable Logo (logos provided by Blue)

·       Rough Riders Logo (monotone) or “Home of the Rough Riders”

·       BlueFCU Primary Blue Color as 40-60% of the composition

·       Must include visual reference to youth themed - Hockey, Baseball, Basketball, LaCrosse or Volleyball.

Optional:

·       References to Superior Colorado

·       References to the Rocky Mountains

·       Regional flora and fauna

·       Other regional landmarks

Semi-finalists will be paid a stipend of $1,500 each to prepare and present a mural design proposal. Upon selection of a mural design finalist, Blue Federal Credit Union will incur all costs for print production and installation of the mural.

 

TIMELINE FOR BLUE CREDIT UNION MURAL PROJECT RFQ

August 16:  Application open on the CaFE website www.callforentry.org

Sept. 11, 8:00 a.m.:  Questions from artists due by email

Sept. 13, 11:59 p.m.:  RFQ submittal deadline

Sept. 18-22:  Selection panel reviews applications

Week of Sept. 25:  Applicants notified. Semi-finalists notified of RFP next steps.

Oct 2-6:  Semi-finalists conduct self-guided site visits and work on design proposals

Oct. 30-Nov. 4:  Semi-finalists present proposals to selection panel. Selection panel deliberates.

Week of Nov. 13:  Finalist notified. Final selection presented to Blue. Execution of site-specific agreement

Nov-Dec.:  Installation of mural (Pending Weather)

Application Requirements

1.     All materials must be submitted through CaFE website www.callforentry.org.

2.     Submit up to six (6) digital images of completed public art or site-specific design work. No more than 2 images per project are permitted.

3.     Do not submit images of past proposals that were not executed.

4.     Include a corresponding list describing the images (dimensions, title, year, material description, budget, etc.).

5.     Resume that includes demonstrated experience with commissioned site-specific public art mural designs.

6.     Letter of interest.

 

Eligibility Criteria

1.     All applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent U.S. residents at least 18 years of age.

2.     Eligible applicants include creatives working in three-dimensional design, including but not limited to, public artists, sculptors, architects or landscape architects.

3.     Applicants may apply as an individual creative or as a creative team of multi-disciplinary professionals and must demonstrate experience with site-specific design in order to qualify.

4.     Qualifications and professional samples of past public artworks are required to be considered for this project. From this RFQ, up to three (3) finalists will be selected to present design concepts.

5.     Semi-finalists will be paid a stipend to develop and present their artwork design concepts. Please do not submit design proposals to this RFQ, as those proposals will be removed from the selection process. Only the selected semi-finalists will be invited to submit proposals.
