EXPO 43 International Juried Competition
Juror: Emily Olek is a Curatorial Assistant in the Department of Drawings and Prints at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Before joining MoMA, Emily was the Janet and Craig Duchossois Curatorial Research Assistant in Prints and Drawings at the Art Institute of Chicago, where she worked on projects including Joseph E. Yoakum: What I Saw, Hairy Who? 1966-1969, and Lygia Pape: Tecelares. She also worked on exhibitions at the Chicago Cultural Center and the Pritzker Military Museum and Library. Emily recently completed her M.A. at the University of Illinois at Chicago with a concentration in American works on paper and holds a B.A. in Art History from Loyola University Chicago. Her Master's Thesis entitled “So-Called “Outsiders”: A Case Against the Moniker” won UIC Graduate College’s 2022 Outstanding Thesis Award
Accepted Media: All fine arts media are acceptable (no crafts): watercolor, oils, acrylic, mixed media, printmaking, pastel, drawing, collage, sculpture, installation art, video (short), photography, original digital art, fiber art. Submissions must be the original work of the artist / No collaborations will be accepted. Artist will be allowed to submit up to 6 images and/or 2 videos.
Awards and Reception: Selected artists will be included in a virtual on line exhibition on the gallery’s website (https://www.bjspokegallery.org), February 1 through March 31, 2024. Work will be promoted on all of the gallery's social media platforms. Cash awards for 1st ($300), 2nd ($200), and 3rd ($100) place artists. Reception will be Wednesday, February 7th, at 7:00pm (EST) via ZOOM. The reception will be recorded
Deadline for Submission: December 13, 2023
Entry Fee: $35.00 for up to 6 images and/or 2 videos. Artists will be judged on their body of work
Promotion: If selected, images of your art, your name, voice, video, artist’s statement and/or bio will be used to promote the exhibit on social media, print and any other publicity used to promote EXPO 43
Size Limitations: Expo 43 will be an online exhibition. There are no size limitations for works submitted
Notification: Artists will be contacted on or about June 3, 2024
