To celebrate the School of Visual Studies, we are hosting our first alumni exhibition at The Montminy Gallery at the Boone County History and Culture Center because it is large enough to accommodate an exhibition of our wonderful graduates. The exhibition will be juried, and we will accept as many artworks as we can to fit within the space.

We want to connect with our alumni and celebrate all of you. We will host a reception on Saturday, March 9, and hope to see you all there.

The School of Visual Studies (SVS) includes the degree programs in Art, Graphic Design, Art History, Digital Storytelling, and Film Studies and Film Production. The School was launched in 2017 to create a collaborative, interdisciplinary, cutting-edge education that reflects 21st century studio practice and visual culture. SVS offers Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), Master of Arts (MA), Master of Fine Arts (MFA), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees. SVS is also home to the George Caleb Bingham Gallery featuring exhibitions by visiting artists, faculty, and students.

The School of Visual Studies mission:

What we see and how we create shape how we engage with the world.

School of Visual Studies faculty are active artists and scholars who educate creative, empowered, and ethical citizens with the skills to shape communities and contribute to local and global professional discourses. School of Visual Studies students study the historical and contemporary significance and effects of visual media in society to become innovative practitioners and thinkers within the fields of art, design, and multimedia production. Together we produce and disseminate new works that imaginatively meet the social and cultural demands of our time.

Our vision:

To become the highest rated public arts school in Missouri and become the top choice for our exceptional teaching, research, and service by students across Missouri and nationally.
