The Indianapolis Art Center announces a Call for Entry to Garbled Guise. Garbled Guise is a juried exhibition featuring contemporary wearable art. This exhibition will highlight the world of wearable artworks today and the richness found in the wide variety of techniques, styles, and aesthetics involved. The intention of this exhibition is to feature works in a variety of media ranging from traditional processes (fibers, textiles, jewelry, and metalwork) to contemporary and new media processes (wearable sculpture, performance art, and new media). Cash awards total $2,000.00.

This exhibition is open to a variety of installation and documentation methods for artworks. 

Artists may submit constructed, wearable art objects for consideration. 

Artists may submit photo or video documentation of wearable works or performances involving wearable art objects for consideration.

It is the artist's responsibility to ensure clarity for intended display methods of submitted artworks. The Art Center has a variety of wearable art supports on-hand for display including jewelry displays, neck forms, and mannequins. It is advised to contact us before submitting an application if a specific display form would need to be reserved. Installation artists should contact us before applying to ensure compatibility of space.

Media:
-All media eligible, although work must have a tie-in to wearable artworks.

-2D artwork must not weigh more than 250 pounds.

Application Requirements

Entry Fee/Images:
$35 non-refundable entry fee for the submission of two pieces. $5 additional for each submission up to 6 pieces. Each artist or artist team may submit up to six pieces of work for jurying.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility:
-This exhibit is open to all artists over the age of 18 residing in the United States.

-Work must be made within the last two years and cannot have been previously shown at the Art Center.

-All work must be original and made by the artist or artist team. Collaborative works made between artists are eligible for inclusion.
