How do you capture a memory in a single frame?

Does it require laborious planning and preparation by the image-maker, or is recording a fraction of time simply the intuitive and spontaneous nature that comes with creating?

PAUSE: asks artists to consider these questions to uncover their drive, motive, and intention to capture these noteworthy moments through photography.

PAUSE: An Open Call for Photographic Works seeks photographic / photography images representing deliberateness. Artists are encouraged to thoughtfully select works from their personal archives and portfolios that best showcase the fulfillment of their craft. Take time and find work you've created that best encapsulates your artistic expression's essence and drive to create. This exhibition is open to all self-identifying photographers internationally. All photographic mediums such as digital, film, mixed media, collage, and non-traditional processes are invited to participate.

Frances comments “Art League RI invited me to share my deep love for juried exhibitions (and Rhode Island) and come up with this call. I am eager to see images that may or may not fit into a tidy "project." I want to see pictures and hear your voice on why these particular (if unrelated) images must be made.”

Please read this prospectus carefully and only consider submitting work if you are certain you can comply with the requirements and timetable outlined below in this document. By submitting artwork to this Call for Entry, and if your work is selected for this exhibition, you agree to exhibit your work May 4 - 25, 2024.
