Size and framing must be consistent within all art categories. See below.

Only two-dimensional art will be accepted.

Minimum artwork image dimensions are 8" x 10" without the frame.  The maximum dimension of framed artwork is 42" in either direction. Framed artwork must be 2" or less deep.

Selected art must be dry and framed in a professional manner using D-rings, with or without wire.  No saw tooth hangers or screw eyes will be accepted.

Simple wood or metal frames are encouraged. Watercolor and other fragile media must be under plexiglass or sealed with varnish.  (Glass is only acceptable on pastels and charcoal drawings.) Watercolor and other fragile media under plexiglass or glass must be matted with a white or off-white mat (single or double matted) at least 3” wide.  Artwork sealed with varnish does not require a mat, but must be framed or minimum of 1 1/2” deep with edges painted, and must be completely dry. Gallery-wrapped canvas is acceptable; however edges must be painted and a minimum of 1 1/2” deep. (No stretch canvas without a frame.) Collage build-ups must not exceed 1/4”.

Items not for sale must be marked NFS. All others must be priced to sell. All show sales will pay a 25% commission of the sales price (15% to the Eisemann Center and 10% to RCAS). Artists will send the 25% commission for the artwork sold to RCAS, and RCAS will provide the Eisemann Center its portion of the commission. Please price your work accordingly. Artists are responsible for paying state sales tax.

If selected, entrants are obligated to exhibit their work during the entire show, or they will be disqualified from entry for the following year. Sales can be picked up at the end of the show.

Jo Williams,

“Art in all its manifestations gives meaning to our lives, and it is an essential part of our culture. We are so fortunate to live in a time when there is a rich abundance of materials from which to select for making art, and there are so many masterful artists willing to share their knowledge.

It takes courage to create art, and it takes even more courage to share our art with others. I applaud all artists who submit work for juried competitions. Rejection always hurts, but we should all remember that jurors make their selections based on many reasons. When I am rejected, I will look at the work that was selected and then examine my work with a critical eye and consider what I can learn from the rejection, and I often will simply enter the work in another competition with a different juror.

As a juror and teacher, it is an absolute joy to view other artist’s work; it is simply like Christmas morning!  It is especially wonderful to see work with a surprising subject matter or with a familiar subject, but that is presented in a way that surprises me. Many of us are drawn to similar subject matter.  My criteria for jurying work is pretty universal: l. Emotional impact; 2. Design and composition; 3. Technical competence.

I am honored to be the juror for the Richardson Civic Art Society 58th Annual Regional Exhibition, and I look forward to seeing your submissions.”
