About the Call

This open call is for TEXAS ARTISTS ONLY!

The Woodlands Art Gallery & Studios is thrilled to announce an upcoming exhibition that promises to be a captivating journey into the realms of the surreal. This is an opportunity for artists all over Texas, including those from Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin, to the streets of El Paso and Corpus Christi to showcase their creativity. 

Selected works will be featured in a thoughtfully curated exhibition with an opening reception that aims to display art that engages the senses, challenges preconceived notions, and invites introspection.

Please note that this open call is for Texas artists only. If you are not based in Texas, you are not eligible to apply.

Timeline

• Application opens: February 1, 2024
• Application closes: February 25, 2024
• Jury dates: February 27 - February 29
• Artwork needs to be received by March 15, 2024
• Reception date & time: March 21, 2024, 5 pm -  8 pm
• Display dates: March 21 - May 10
• Artwork pick-up date: May 11, 2024, 10 am - 2 pm

Fees

• Applicants will pay a $35 entry fee

Awards

• Cash awards will be made based on entry fees collected

All participants are invited to the reception where we will announce the winners.

Application Requirements

• Artists may submit up to 5 images of original work that align with the theme of surrealism, exploring dream-like scenes, symbolic imagery, and the depths of the subconscious.
• Submissions must include high-quality images of the artwork.
• A non-refundable application fee is required to complete your submission. This fee helps cover the costs of the juried selection process and the cash awards.
• Selected artworks must be ready for display, with all necessary hanging hardware included (wires, D-rings, etc).
• Artwork must remain on display for the entirety of the exhibition dates, from March 21st through May 10th.
• Artists are responsible for the delivery and collection of their artworks to and from the gallery.
• While all possible care will be taken with the artworks submitted, Woodlands Art Gallery & Studios and its staff cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to artworks during the exhibition, transportation, or storage period.
• If art is being shipped in, have a prepaid label.
