The Prairie Village Arts Council's 7th Annual Art of Photography juried competition and exhibition will be held now through July 5, 2024. The Exhibition will be on display beginning Monday, May 6th, and there will be an artists' reception on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 7:00 - 8:30pm with awards presentation beginning at 8pm.

NEW - This is a regional art show open to primarily Missouri and Kansas artists within driving distance to deliver artwork, attend the reception on opening night, and pickup artwork after the show if not sold.

AWARDS:

  • One (1) "Best of Show" award at $750
  • Three (3) "Best of Category" awards at $500.00
  • Six (6) "Honorable Mention" awards, 2 per category, at $200.00
  • One (1) "Peoples' Choice" Award of $250.00
     

Application Requirements

CATEGORIES:

  1. People and Portraits of People (no nudes, please)
  2. Architecture, Landscapes, and Nature / Wildlife
  3. Abstract / non-traditional / photo-collage/ highly digitally enhanced.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

All images must be original photographs and taken with a camera.  Images that do not clearly fit into the above categories will not be considered. Non-traditional techniques are defined here:

Nine entries are allowed, maximum of 3 per category.  Artists may enter all three categories but only one entry per category per artist will be accepted for the show. (It is possible for one artist to have three works in the show, one in each category.) 

Entry fee for one image is $30.00 each additional image is $3.00.  Fees are non-refundable. A diptych or triptych can be submitted as one entry as long as it meets the same requirements as a single entry and is photographed as one entry during submission.

NEW - Accepted artwork must be delivered to the gallery matted in white AND FRAMED in black. Smallest frame size allowed is 11"x14" interior dimension. 

Prairie Village Arts Council has used frames available in sizes 11"X14", 16"x20", 20"x24" for sale for $5 each. If you'd like to purchase a frame or frames, please let us know at the time of your acceptance into the show. The frame(s) will be yours to keep.

The Sales Commission to the Prairie Village Arts Council is 10%. (This is a newly reduced commission approved by the Council in 2024 to better support our exhibiting artists and to, hopefully, make pricing more accessible for some prospective buyers.)

All work MUST be for sale . Prices listed on the entry form are binding and cannot be changed after acceptance into the show.

Eligibility Criteria

ELIGIBILITY:

Open to all photographers, 18 years of age or older, whose submitted works are created independent of any supervision.

Cerbera Gallery

Philipp Eirich was born in Wurzburg, Germany. He came to the United States in his early twenties and lived in Chicago for 20 years before moving to Kansas City. He now owns and runs Cerbera Gallery, a contemporary fine art gallery located at the heart of Kansas City’s Crossroads Art District. He currently is the Digital Advisor and Strategist on LUMI Neon Museum’s Board of Directors. Eirich served on the Board of Directors of the Kansas City Artists Coalition as both Co-Vice President and President. Other community engagements include KCUR’s Gen Listen Leadership Council, the KCSCP and the Crossroads Community Association.
