The Indy Art Center is excited to announce a call for installation artwork proposals! This outdoor exhibition is seeking site specific, temporary installations to be located on the grounds of the IAC's 9.5 acre ARTSPARK. Artists and Artist Teams are invited to submit proposals for consideration.

One project will be selected and the invited artist or artist team will be awarded a $1500 stipend to create/install their work.

This exhibition will be on view through a particularly high trafficked season in ARTSPARK. The exhibition runs May 13th-June 13th spanning the Art Center's annual Broad Ripple Art Fair (May 17-19), the beginning of IAC youth summer camps, regular education programming, and special event rentals including wedding receptions.

About ARTSPARK:

ARTSPARK is a 9.5-acre park featuring interactive sculpture designed to stimulate all the senses. Meander through the varied landscape to uncover a palette of hues, fragrant vegetation, various textures, and sounds of wildlife.

This exhibition will be featured in the Woodland Art Walk area of the park. The space features trees, gravel paths, permanent sculptures, and open-grassy areas. Artists should specify what kind of environment their installation would best be equipped for.

Installation Methods:

The IAC is open to a variety of media and installation methods. Proposed artworks are encouraged to utilize recycled materials, previously installed outdoor-works, and ephemeral installations.

Potential projects could include (but are not limited to) examples of the following:

Light weight fabric/fiber interventions in tree branches.

Scattering of small-scale found objects or natural objects throughout the installation area.

Experiences showing the correlation and/or interaction of materials in a natural setting.

Artistic expressions that are meant to be interacted with by the public

Pre-existing, free standing sculpture.

Selection Procedure:
After the application deadline, the IAC Exhibitions committee will select one project from the pool of proposals received. Proposals will be judged based on originality, feasibility, execution, and innovation.

Notification:
All submitting Artists will be notified of their status by the end of the day Wednesday, 04/24/20204

Accepted Work:
• After a proposal is selected, alterations or substitutions cannot be made without written authorization by the IAC. The exhibitions team reserves the right to remove any works from the exhibition based on special installation circumstances or discrepancies between the juried images and actual work.
• Selected Artist is responsible for all costs associated with the fabrication, production, and transportation of their work. The IAC exhibitions team is willing to assist with installation, loading, and unloading of materials by confirmed appointment.
• All accepted work must remain on display through the end of the exhibition on June 14th, 2024

Stipend:

The selected artist or artist team will receive $1500.00 toward the completion of their project. This stipend will be split into two payments. $750.00 will be issued upon selection and $750.00 will be issued at the completion of the exhibit upon the successful de-install of the project. If the artist who do not de-install their project will not receive their second payment.

This stipend is intended to assist with costs associated with shipping/delivering work and materials and hardware required for installation.

Proposed projects are encouraged to utilize recycled materials, previously installed outdoor-works, and ephemeral installations.

Installation
• All artwork must be installed between the dates of April 25 – May 12, 2024
• While the Indy Art Center will have some staff support for artists during the installation period, please remember that installation is primarily artist-driven. We will be able to help you troubleshoot should complications arise, but will not install your piece for you.
