We want your mugs! In Fall of 2024, the Arvada Center is dedicating its entire Main Gallery to showcase the ubiquitous form of the mug. We are looking for original, hand-made pieces that demonstrate exemplary creativity, experimentation, and imagination. We are calling all artists to submit their favorite hand-made mug for exhibition. To fill our 10,000 square foot Main Gallery, we will be accepting 250 - 350 mugs for inclusion. Take your place in the wide world of mug-makers in this massive international exhibition.

Artwork Requirements:

  1. Submissions must utilize or reference the form of a mug.
  2. Functional and non-functional, traditional and non-traditional pieces are eligible.
  3. Any media can be submitted. However, keep in mind that this exhibition is highlighting mugs, not artwork depicting mugs. For example, a painting of a mug is not eligible for this exhibition.
  4. All mugs may not be larger than a 7” x 7” footprint and weigh no more than 10lbs.
  5. Any artwork not conforming to the selected conditions set forth will be disqualified.
  6. For specific questions regarding eligibility, please email galleries@arvadacenter.org.

Submission Guidelines:

  1. Non-refundable entry fee of $10 for up to three entries. Limited entrance fee scholarships are available for artists who are experiencing economic hardship, for artists who identify as Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), and for artists who identify as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. Please email galleries@arvadacenter.org to request a scholarship.
  2. Images may be JPG files only.
  3. Crop images to exclude background as much as possible.
  4. Images must represent the work exactly.

Delivery and Return of Accepted Work:

  1. Artwork may be hand-delivered Wednesday, August 28 - Thursday, August 29, 9:30am - 4:30pm.
  2. Shipped work should arrive no later than Monday, August 26, 2024. Ship work in sturdy, reusable crates, boxes, or cartons. Work will be returned in the container and materials in which it arrived. Artists must provide a prepaid return shipping label.
  3. Arvada Center provides insurance for artworks while on premises.
  4. Arvada Center is not responsible for damage or loss during transport.

Sales of Artwork:

  1. If artwork is sold, artists will receive payment after the exhibition closes.
  2. All work must be for sale. No single work may exceed $250 in value.
  3. Artists will receive 60% of sale proceeds. Arvada Center will retain 40% of sales.
