Gallery of Dreams Artist in Residence Program 2024
Residency Dates: July 1, 2024 - September 30, 2024
Residency Location: Fort Works Art Gallery
Selection Committee: Benito Huerta, Artist and retired Professor/Director/Curator of the Gallery at the University of Texas at Arlington, and Leticia Huckaby, Photographer and Co- founder of KinFolk House.

Gallery of Dreams, a local art and community non-profit, is excited to announce the commencement of its 2024 Artist in Residency (A.I.R.) program, made possible by a generous grant from The Arts Fund of the North Texas Community Foundation and Fort Works Art. This collaboration underscores a shared commitment to nurturing creativity, community engagement, and the advancement of the arts in Fort Worth.

Awards: The selected artist will receive studio space from July 1 to September 30, 2024 at Fort Works Art Gallery, with a $7,500 cash award and monthly stipend for supplies. The residency concludes with a solo exhibition at Fort Works Art Gallery. The exhibition date is TBD.

Eligibility: GALLERY OF DREAMS ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM 2024 is open to all artists living and working in Fort Worth, TX. 

Artist Requirements: 

1. Artist will be asked to present a public lecture (2). 

2. Artist will be asked to allow students and community visitors to watch and interact while working in the studio. 

3. Artist will be in the studio for at least 15 hours during Gallery business hours. 

4. All Artists are free to make their own schedule for their hours and are asked to let staff know weekly their tentative schedule for the upcoming week. 

5. All resident artists are required to have their studios accessible, by the resident or the staff, to public interaction on Saturdays and one other day of the week (TBD), as well as during exhibition openings and specific educational programs on the evenings and weekends. Residents are responsible for their own studio up-keep and general department housekeep- ing including individual trash disposal. 

6. Resident is responsible for providing their own bev- erages and food. Gallery refrigerator may be used for this and must be periodically checked and cleaned if necessary. It is suggested that food and beverages be labeled, as this is a community space. 

7. During the residency, artists' creative work is represented by FWA and is considered for display in the gallery. 

Additional opportunities include, but are not limited to, discussions with curators and gallery owners, exposure at FWA events, and interactions with visiting art professionals.

Application Requirements

Application Requirements: When you complete the application, you will be asked to provide the following information: 

1. Letter of Intent: In one page or less, provide a brief description of your work or project to be completed while in residence, your career direction, and why you should be awarded a residency at Gallery of Dreams. 

2. Resume: Three pages or less. 

3. Artist Statement: In one page or less, describe your creative work, process, technique, and conceptual development. 

4. One Letter of Recommendation: You will be asked to provide one letter of recommendation about your creative practice.

5. Images of 10 Works Created within the Last Two Years: Upload one wide shot and one detail of each piece for a total number of 20 images. Instructions on how to format images to CaFÉ specifications can be found under the Media Prep tab.

6. Entry Fee: $35 application fee.
