Project Description

LexArts Inc. in association with Town Branch Park seeks artists to create a public art installation in Town Branch Park on an exterior wall or free standing structure adjacent to the performing arts facility.

This artwork will serve as recognition of donors and other contributors to the project and will have names and potentially acknowledgments in the piece in a variety of ways representing different levels and types of contributions. We will consider a variety of materials the artists might suggest including glass, wood, stone etc. Our goal is to commission proposals by three experienced public artists for the site with the expectation of realizing one of the proposals in spring 2025. There is no application fee to enter.

Project Budget

The project budget is $100,000. The budget is all inclusive to complete the artwork including artists fee, travel, research, execution, insurance, taxes, site preparation equipment rental and materials.

Project Site

The selected site is a new construction building that will be part of the park’s amphitheater and stage. The artwork will cover a wall that is approximately 20’ high x 40’ long. The total area available to be activated is approximately 800 square feet. Concept development will be addressed with finalists during the proposal stage.

A review of the final design will be conducted by the selection committee. One artist or artist team will be selected to realize their proposal.

Critical Selection Factors

• Artistic distinction

• Experience creating high-quality largescale public artwork

• Low maintenance, durability

• Contextual integration into Town Branch Park.

The strength of the submitted images of past artworks demonstrating ability of the artist(s) to complete similar or related projects will be considered critical selection factors. In addition, the Committee is interested in a wide variety of creative solutions to the challenges of an outdoor public artwork.
