The City of Rahway envisions a community in which art and design enrich all aspects of public life and where artists and creatives find opportunity to thrive. The City invites artists to submit their qualifications for the Public Art Program. The City will create a list of pre-qualified artists through this call to artists. Artists chosen for the Pre-qualified Artist List will be eligible for consideration for upcoming public art projects, murals, and sculpture installations in the City of Rahway. Pre-qualified artists will remain on the list through December 2026. Inclusion in the list does not guarantee a commission.

Application Requirements

To apply, please submit the following documents and supporting materials electronically through CallforEntry.org. Submissions are due by 11:59 PM Mountain Time on May 15, 2024. Mailed submissions will not be accepted.

Artist Bio – Introduce yourself or your team, and your artistic perspective. Please detail your relevant professional experience in the field of public art.

Portfolio Images and Image List: Upload up to ten (10) images of completed projects and relevant works of art. In the Image List, include a description of each image: 1) Location, 2) Completion date, 3) Dimensions, 4) Materials, and 5) Project Budget.

Please do not include proposals or design ideas with your submission; they will not be reviewed at this time.

Evaluation

All submissions will be reviewed by the City of Rahway’s Arts Committee, which consists of local artists and community stakeholders and a panel of City Administrators. Artists will be selected based on the following criteria:

·  Complete application submitted prior to the application deadline

·  Artistic merit demonstrated through quality of artwork

·  Professional experience demonstrated through the completion of past public art projects

Artists will be notified of the Committee's decision by early July 2024. Artists accepted for the Pre-qualified Artists List will be invited to submit a proposal for certain upcoming City-led public art opportunities.

Eligibility Criteria

This opportunity is open to: 

• Professional artists and artist teams residing within a 50-mile radius of Rahway, New Jersey 07065.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have all necessary documentation and permits to work in the United States at the time of submittal of qualifications.
• Applicants are required to have a New Jersey Business Registration Certificate (or equivalent registration based on state of residence).

Artists who meet the above criteria and who have experience creating murals, sculpture, digital projections, and other forms of public art are invited to submit. 

The City of Rahway reserves the right to expand or update the Pre-qualified Artists list at any time by issuing a subsequent call for artists or by other means.
