Application Requirements

Eligibility:
Fiber Art Colorado is open to living Colorado artists of all backgrounds and experience levels. We encourage both emerging and established artists to submit their work.  Only original work by artists residing in Colorado is allowed.  Juried selection will be based on pieces that demonstrate exceptional skill, creativity and a unique voice in the world of fiber arts.

Medium: Submissions must fall within the domain of fiber arts, which may include but are not limited to:
 

  • Textile art
  • Embroidery
  • Quilting
  • Weaving
  • Felting
  • Paperwork
  • Beading
  • Mixed Media incorporating elements (at least 51% of artwork should be fiber)
  • Wearable fiber art

Eligibility Criteria

Deadline:
Entries must be submitted into CaFÉ (www.callforentry.org) between May 5 and midnight June 10, 2024.  Late entries will not be considered.

Presentation Guidelines:

  • Artwork must be hand-delivered only on Sunday, July 21, 2024 between 9am-12pm. No shipments accepted.
  • Artwork must be delivered with an inventory sheet and attached tags, one on the front and one on the back. Blank tags and an inventory sheet will be emailed to you upon acceptance into the show.  Each work must be clearly labeled with the artist’s name and title of work on the back.
  • Submitted works should be manageable for display. Artists are encouraged to consider the exhibition space and logistics when creating and submitting their pieces. The Depot Art Gallery is housed in an historic building and work can’t be hung from the ceiling. We utilize a non-destructive hanging wall system.
  • All submissions MUST include a description of the materials and techniques used in each piece as well as images of the art.
  • Wall hanging artwork is limited in size to no more than 30” in any direction, including framing.
  • Any wall hanging, two-dimensional artwork must weigh less than twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • Three-dimensional hanging works cannot exceed 20” in any direction. Three-dimensional free-standing work cannot exceed 30” wide and 60” tall. Three-dimensional work must not weigh more than twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • All work must be ready to hang or display (with quilt sleeve, hanging rod, wire hanger on back, etc.)
  • Only artwork of professional presentation will be accepted.

1. Framed and Mounted artwork must use D-rings and sturdy wire for the hanging mechanism. No saw-tooth hangers or eyelets.  Mounted artwork should be on a substrate with a 1 3/8" depth minimum.

2. Frames must be free of defects.

3. Three-dimensional works must be able to stand on their own or be submitted with adequate display stands.  

The Depot Art Gallery reserves the right to reject any work not matching submission guidelines, or which is not properly presented for exhibit, or which it deems inappropriate for the Depot Art Gallery setting or its clientele.

Entry Requirements:

• Entry fee is $35 for up to two (2) images. A third entry may be submitted for an additional $15. The entry fee is non-refundable.

• JPG images must be cropped to exclude framing and background and must represent the work exactly.

• The price entered in CaFÉ is firm. No changes will be allowed after submission.

CaFÉ photo guidelines are as follows:

• File format: JPEG or JPG only

• File dimensions: 1200 pixels or greater on the longest side

• File size: under 5 MB

Juror:  Cecily Cullen is a distinguished creative professional and an advocate for the arts. She is the Director and Curator of the award-winning Center for Visual Art at Metropolitan State University of Denver. She also serves as chair of the Colorado Committee for the National Museum of Women in the Arts, and as an advisor for Colorado Attorneys for the Arts. With a passion for promoting and showcasing contemporary visual arts, Cecily brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role. “I am interested in artists and others who are utilizing various platforms to affect a change in thinking,” says Cecily. Over the years she has curated and organized numerous art exhibits and programming as well as being a juror for many state and US exhibitions, publications and art projects. “She continually creates sophisticated exhibitions that take a global and multicultural look at art or offer comprehensive overviews of mediums and techniques.” (Susan Froyd, Westword). Her commitment to fostering a dynamic and engaging artistic environment has contributed significantly to the cultural landscape of the university and the broader community. The selected art will be based on artistic merit, creativity, and the artist's ability to push the boundaries of the medium.

 

Awards:
A total of $1,500 will be awarded. Cash awards will be presented for Best of Show, 2nd and 3rd Place and three Honorable Mentions. The Awards Ceremony will be at the Reception on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at the Depot Art Gallery.

Sales:
The Depot Art Gallery (the Littleton Fine Arts Guild, Inc.) manages all sales. A 30% commission is retained on all sales.  

All artwork must be for sale.

About The Littleton Fine Arts Guild and the Depot Art Gallery:
The Littleton Fine Arts Guild was founded in 1962 by 10 artists interested in painting. The historic Depot Art Gallery is a restored 1885 Santa Fe train station, adapted for use as a gallery, and opened in 1978. It was enhanced by the addition of a renovated 1890 caboose. It is a unique marriage of community spirit and the arts. The Depot Art Gallery is under the administration of the Littleton Historical Museum and the City of Littleton, and is operated by The Littleton Fine Arts Guild.

If you are not available to pick up your work, please make arrangements for someone to pick up your work for you. The Gallery does not have storage space. Artwork must not be left at the Depot Art Gallery.  When applying to this show you agree to abide by the Legal Agreement provided below.
