In today’s fast-paced, often chaotic world, we find ourselves longing for spaces where we can feel comfort, engage in thoughtful contemplation, and experience a sense of security. Sanctuaries come in many forms, whether they be physical places, metaphysical states of mind, or places of human connection. 

We invite artists to show their version of Haven, beckoning viewers into these sanctuaries, and revealing the profound impact of these spaces through various mediums and techniques.  

Your submissions could include landscapes and still lifes, reminding us of the power of the natural world. Also consider exploring the inner sanctum--the meditative and introspective havens we create within ourselves. Likewise, through portraiture, human or animal forms, your piece could celebrate the interconnectedness of hearts. 

Juror: Rena Charles

After nine years of contributing to the vibrant Sonoma and Napa art scene, notably as the Director of Sales for AERENA Galleries & Gardens, Rena Charles embarked on a new chapter by founding the Rena Charles Gallery in Healdsburg, CA in June 2023.

She is also an artist who paints with a heartfelt touch. Growing up in the South with a rich heritage blending African-American and Taiwanese roots, her art reflects this vibrant tapestry.

SebArts is one of the most vibrant arts organizations in northern California. Since 1988, it has engaged and inspired the community through presentations of contemporary art, music, dance, film, and literary events. Through classes and workshops, it strives to educate and deepen interest in the arts for adults, teens, and children. The Center is located in a 17,800 square foot building in downtown Sebastopol where it offers a large variety of arts programs and is a creative force in California. Sebastopol, located 60 miles north of San Francisco, is one of America's premier destinations for food, wine, and the arts, attracting thousands of visitors each year.

Eligibility Criteria

ELIGIBILITY:
- Open to artists worldwide.
- Maximum of 3 pieces (artworks) per artist.
- Wall mounted work must include fixtures and be ready to hang.
- All work must be original (i.e. no reproductions of original artwork).
- All work must not have been previously shown in the SebArts Gallery.

SELECTION:
- Work will be selected from online applications.
- The Juror will view all work in an anonymous manner. Please do not contact Juror for any reason and be sure your application and artwork does not show artist name (or your work may be excluded).
- SebArts may exclude delivered/shipped work that does not reflect the quality of the work presented in the online application.

NOTIFICATION:
- Artists will be notified by email of acceptance by July 1, 2024.

SUBMISSIONS ENTERED ONLINE ONLY (use EntryThingy or CAFE online submission sites)
- Please ensure that all images are 5MB or less in size and are in JPEG format.
- Each entry/piece can have one main image and up to two additional images/views (to show perspective or detail).
- We advise that you submit high-quality images that best represent your work. Work that differs from the submission image may not be included in the exhibition.
- When filling out forms, make an entry in each field. You may use “N/A” if the field does not apply.
- When entering more than one image per piece, enter the main image and then up to two detailed views.
- Please include dimensions and weight.
- All accepted pieces must be Shipped (to arrive 8/5/24) or Hand Delivered (on or by 8/12/24) to SebARTS – no Exceptions
