A cornerstone of our mission at the Sasse Museum of Art is our series of annual juried exhibits. You can view the previous year’s exhibits on the Catalog page of the Museum’s website. These beautiful digital exhibits attract submissions from talented artists around the world, offering a platform for emerging and established voices alike. Each juried exhibit is meticulously curated, ensuring a diverse and dynamic presentation of artistic styles and media.

This year's juried exhibit, Tree Stories, is a unique exhibition that explores the diverse narratives surrounding trees, including their cultural significance, ecological importance, and personal connections. We anticipate welcoming a wide range of artists and showcasing a variety of artistic mediums, attracting a large and engaged audience.

The chosen artworks will be showcased in an online gallery on the Sasse Museum of Art website and a printed version will be offered for sale through Amazon.  Artists will receive widespread exposure through museum publications and media coverage. In a first for the Sasse Museum of Art, the upcoming juried exhibit will offer inaugural prize money to the top three artists recognizing their outstanding commitment and contributions to the art world.

1.     Best in Show: $250

2.     Juror’s Choice: $150

3.     Founder’s Choice: $100

Witness the impact of past exhibitions. Please view last year’s juried digital exhibit, “Art of the Word,” on our website at The Sasse and on Amazon here

Our distinguished jurors will select artwork based on originality, artistic merit, and relevance to the exhibition theme. NOTE: THIS IS A JURIED EXHIBITION FOCUSED ON THE THEME OF "TREE STORIES"; ONLY ARTWORK THAT SIGNIFICANTLY EXPLORES THIS THEME WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR SELECTION.

Jury:

Fred Hartson's artistic journey began early, with recognition in second grade leading to a lifelong passion for creativity. With a degree from the Art Center College of Design and over forty years in the industry, Fred has excelled as an art director, graphic designer, and educator. While his career focused on commercial art, Fred's heart always leaned towards fine art. He's experimented with painting, sculpting, and photography, recently diving into "digital paintings" by manipulating his photographs on the computer. His work has graced galleries across California and Oregon, showcasing his dedication to artistic exploration and expression.

Melissa Macias, a dedicated professor in Mt. San Antonio College's art department, plays a pivotal role in shaping the artistic endeavors of budding talents in the Inland Empire and surrounding regions. In her artistic practice, Melissa embraces spontaneity and adapts to the dynamic interplay between materials, ideas, and environment, eschewing rigid preconceptions in favor of organic expression. Through her art, Melissa grapples with fundamental questions about memory, mythmaking, and universal experiences, inviting viewers to contemplate alternative perspectives and intellectual frameworks.
